Dr. Matthew Elje Bennett

Has been seeing my children for the past 12 years and there’s no other doctor like him, he truly is someone who cares about his patients.

Let me begin this review by explaining that I am "one of those moms" who requires the absolute best medical care for my children and will not settle for anything less. I was pre-med in college with some post graduate work but I am not a medical expert and I sincerely respect the experience and education of MDs. However, I am not clueless on the subject of medicine and I absolutely despise being treated like an uneducated parent (as though a doctor's elaborate reasoning will somehow persuade me to trust his/her opinions more) and furthermore belittled for questioning a doctor's decision. I have seen and abruptly dropped a great number of doctors. I have been harassed on more than one occasion as an irresponsible parent for questioning a doctor's decision and denying treatment for my children. I'm pretty sure the office staff of every doctor I've visited whispers behind my back, "Oh it's THAT mother...here we go again!" Surely they have a special code name for crazy moms like… me. That being said, I moved across the Valley in 2007 about 8 months pregnant with my second child and still searching for a pediatrician for my 1 year old daughter. I was on my fifth pediatrician when I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Bennett for my second child while he was still in womb. The conversation was very telling of the way he practiced medicine and exactly what I was looking for: respectful. Respectful of my questioning. Respectful in his answering. When I gave birth at the hospital next door to his practice, I was surprised (very pleasantly surprised) when he showed up in my recovery room in plain clothes at 10pm to perform a check-up on my newborn son. I met and spoke with him for 10 minutes during my pregnancy, and there he was, my son's first and only hospital visitor! So here we are five years later with the same pediatrician. I almost gave up hope on finding and keeping a pediatrician! He always spends quality time with us during our visits, gives his honest opinion, and expresses his honest concerns. When he gives me his opinion, he always presents it respectfully and leaves the conversation open for, well, conversation. Instead of getting a "persuasive" closing statement, you are given an opportunity to have a conversation. Amen. The real test came four years ago when he recommended a specialist for my daughter, gave his reasoning, and I decline the referral. While he strongly disagreed with my decision, he respectfully accepted my decision and simply left the conversation with, "If you change your mind, let me know." What a delight to hear this response after so many experiences with other doctors berating me for making these types of decisions for my children. Four years later, Dr. Bennett and I still discuss my daughter's progress at every well-child visit, yet he never brings up that specialist referral. Instead of discussing her "need" for a specialist, we discuss the progress she has made on her own. This doctor is truly a gem and I am so thankful for him! I will conclude that Dr. Bennett is the only pediatrician I will allow my children to regularly see. I am fortunate to live near his practice but will gladly travel a great distance to continue seeing Dr. Bennett. As other reviewers have mentioned, his prompt and courteous call returns when we page him after hours are tremendously comforting. When our children need to see other doctors during emergency illnesses, my husband gets an earful when I get home, "Why can't every doctor be like Dr. Bennett?" Look no further for a pediatrician; I hope this review has convinced you! *On a side note, I don't know why the wait times are reflective of a doctor's performance on a doctor's review website. Would you not wait an unspecified amount of time to see the best doctor and receive the best medical care for your child?

He is very nice and caring with the children. He spends time to just play and talk with them. The office staff is helpful and quick to help.

My kids have been with Dr. Bennett since they were born.He runs a smooth office,the staff is wonderful, and go above and beyond no matter what type of visit you have. I never have a problem getting in contact after hours with Dr. Bennett if one of my boys health concerns me. The other Dr.'s and nurse practitioners are also very helpful and caring when Dr. Bennett isn't available to see my kids last minute. I have about a 30minute drive to

We have been thrilled to have Dr Bennett has our children's Dr for the past three years. My son has a congential lung abnormality and requires additional care. His staff are excellent and helpful. I have had to have him paged after hours frequently. He always calls me back quickly and is so kind about it, even when it is at 3am. In the past the wait times to get into see him were too long, however this was indicative of the time and care he gives each child. He erradicated this problem by adding more doctors to the practice. Since he has taken on additional staff we have never had to wait more then 15 minutes and we never fear getting a last minute appointment. He is conservative and cares about the overall health of your child. If you are looking for a Dr that gives you antibodics everytime your child sneezes, keep looking, Dr Bennett practices real medicine and looks for evidence of infection before doing so. We are so grateful for this wonderful caring Dr!

Dr. Bennett is awesome, caring, good with patients, Best Pediatrician any kid could have. His nurses on the other hand are rude.

Dr. Bennett has been my 3 year old's doctor since he was born.He happened to be the peditrician on call that morning and I have kept him ever since. He is very caring and understanding.My son gets excited everytime we step into the office. The staff is wonderful and will do anything to make his visit a great one. When my son went in unexpected, he was seen by another Dr. at the office but Dr. Bennett made sure he peaked in to make sure all was well. I always recommend not only Dr. Bennett but also his office anytime someone asks.
