Dr. Matthew James Carfrae, MD

I was referred to Dr. Carfrae from McFarland Clinic ten years ago when I needed complex surgery. Now, I won't go anywhere else. He has built a top notch caring team that can get you in when you have problems; for routine care and has a staff that is able to refer more complex cases to him. Trisha deserves high marks for being competent and complete. I wouldn't go elsewhere myself or with a child. I drive 70 miles to get there.

Dr. Carfrae is knowledgible and especially accommodating when you are a new patient. Unfortunately, very soon after that, when you call for an appointment, one is told the earliest time for Dr. Carfrae is three or four weeks. Instead, you are persuaded to see his assistant who is not a doctor for things like an inner ear steroid shot. With Dr.Carfrae, this was successful. With the assistant, it felt much different and did absolutely nothing for me. At $1200 a pop, I need to see a doctor - not be farmed out. I got the sense that Dr. Carfrae couldn’t be bothered and that he’d given up on me. My next stop is someone else who will care for ME!

After a lifetime of hearing problems and going to numerous physicians all in all Dr, Carfrae was satisfactory. However I unfortunately only saw him on my very first visit. After that they switched me to his PA. She was nice and I believe capable but I did not appreciate being turned over after finally finding a doctor that perhaps I could have felt comfortable with. Also... I suggest that you pay close attention to their billing. They need to be more in tuned to communicating to the patient on what is being done and the cost factor involved (their billing dept. was rude and Not helpful). That being said I will be looking for another doctor who is more responsive and that I feel more comfortable with. This office felt more like a factory setting and their goal was to "up Charge" you as much as possible. Of course this is just me opinion. Good Luck!

I can't thank Dr. Carfrae enough. I have had ear problems since I was in the service. The V.A. ENT was unable to effectively help and thank God they sent me to him. Right away I could tell this guy knew what he was doing, viewed the problem, analyzed the problem, and since the surgery, I have had minimal low scale problems, which was to be expected of course. My treatment is ongoing at this point. I think the biggest thing for me is Trust. I would and will recommend Dr. Carfrae to anyone that has ear problems. Thanks
