Dr. Matthew Robert Gerlach, MD

I saw Dr Gerlach after several other treatments by other providers did not help my condition. I had a cyst in the lumbar region of my back displacing 2 nerves and causing a lot of pain/discomfort. I first tried a number of treatments by other providers throughout 2021. My treatments included physical therapy (with 2 different companies), spinal injection (no help), an attempt to drain the cyst (helped for about 3 days) and finally saw Dr Gerlach. Dr Gerlach advised that to properly treat my condition, I needed L4 and L5 vertebrae fused. Dr Gerlach operated in March 2022. Throughout my care, Dr Gerlach was exemplary - he explained what was wrong with my back, what he could (and could not) do to help and what to expect during my treatment, surgery and recovery. I am pain free and active with skiing, mountain biking, running, hiking and backpacking. Thank you Dr Gerlach!

Dr. Gerlach is such a great man. He is warm, efficient, intelligent and empathetic. His diagnosis was right on the money regarding my condition. He is an Ace at his specialty and he was such a pleasure to be around. I would highly recommend him.

Absolutely amazing! Just had my second neck fusion and third overall back surgery with Dr. Gerlach. Him and his staff are always available to answer questions and have really gone to bat dealing with insurance in what amounted to emergency surgeries. He has always been clear and concise in discussing the procedures and what they entail. And I hope I never need him again:) Dr. Gerlach has been great and I would highly recommend him and Orthopedic and Spine Center if the Rockies.

I want to express my strong recommendation for Dr. Matthew Gerlach. After years of debilitating pain, numbness, and tingling in my back and legs, we were referred to Dr. Gerlach by our pain management physician. We found Dr. Gerlach to be thoughtful, thorough, and transparent regarding the pros and cons of surgery. After having been through years of other approaches to my pain, I elected to undergo surgery with Dr. Gerlach. No words can fully describe the life-changing success of Dr. Gerlach’s procedure. Upon leaving the recovery room, my pain and numbness were already alleviated. Now that I am six weeks beyond the surgery, I have no symptoms of the previous pain and numbness I had endured, and which had kept me from my life of activity as a hiker, backpacker, and cyclist. I understand that every patient, and every case, is different and there is no guarantee any other individual will have the great success that I have had, but I highly, and without hesitation, recommend Dr.… Gerlach for any orthopedic surgery you may consider.

But second time around with Dr. Gerlach I knew that he would do my surgery, I wanted the best and that’s what I got THE BEST! I don’t know if it’s normal or not but I expected more pain, more negative side effects or something, but I did not have to take a single pain pill or muscle relaxer ( I was a little freaked out about having to take pain pills). I’m 2 months out and feel amazing, the electrical currents and numbness in my arm are gone, I have the strength back in my arm and leg again. The time I spent searching was well worth it! I came with MRI results to see Dr. Gerlach and see what I needed to do to heal my spine. I left feeling more confident and understanding more of what my body was going through. For the first time, I felt hope !
