Dr. Matthew D Hannibal, MD

I filled out a very extensive pre-visit questionnaire and this doctor obviously didn't read it. He also doesn't listen to the patient and only seems interested in performing his little standard routine examination so he can get you in and out quickly. On to the next patient. First and last time I'll be seeing this doctor.

Being new to the area, I was very fortunate to get an appointment quickly. Feel very comfortable in my choice of EmergeOrtho.

Very lacking in his ability to properly read MRI and diagnose spinal conditions. Got 2nd opinion and now I am getting proper treatment. I had a very obvious bone on bone in 2 discs in my back and yet he said basically I had nothing wrong. Took my MRI and the review of it and went to Charlotte and now I will have 2 decompressions and fusions. I knew I was experiencing great pain for a reason.

Dr. Hannibal, was very informative and has a great beside manner. He performed a minimally invasive lumbar fusion surgery on me, and I feel like I now have my life back, before surgery I had a hard time just walking to the mailbox, now I have started going for 2-3 mile walks daily. I can't thank Dr. Hannibal enough. I would recommend him to anyone, who has a back problem.

Absolutely great doctor!! I notice al these other complaints are from patients with different problems not back related or who he doesn't operate on. If they are writing negative comments because he won't operate, maybe he sees something in them that says they won't be satisfied...and isn't that the kind of doctor you want? Remember, he gets paid to operate, not tell people "no". Yet it seems he's not afraid to do that.

He took X-rays and never came in to explain them. Sent me to 3 more months of serious pain and trauma on my body while finally finding an orthopedic doctor in Winston that found and explained in detail I was in need of a total hip replacement

I suffered with extreme sciatic pain for 12 years. After having tried everything recommended to alleviate it I still had no helpful results. I was referred to Dr. Hannibal for a second opinion by another doctor. Well...I liked him so much I decided to let him do the job. Surgery went well and he or his P.A., Brian Dodd,checked in on me at frequent intervals. Yeah, I ended up having rods, screws, and a bone graft, but the minute I could get out of the hospital bed to walk to the bathroom I knew immediately that my horrendous pain was gone. The surgical pain was nothing compared to the horrible pain I had been in for 12 years. I would recommend Dr. Hannibal to anyone with serious back pain. He's a straight shooter, and doesn't candy coat anything. He tells it like it is and, if you handle the plain facts he's the guy for you.
