Dr. Matthew Lorei

Long time patient. He is very personable, spends time with you, great bedside manner and a skilled surgeon. But he has no conscience. I know this is a bit lenghtly for a review but PLEASE take the time to read it for your own sake and the safety of others. I Had TKA.. 3 months later preforming a meadical procedure that was CONTRAINDICATED for someone as myself with Osteoporosis.. HE FRACTURED MY FEMUR above implant. Following the surgical repair of fracture I was in a brace to keep my toes from touching the floor. I was not to put ANY weight on leg. 4 DAYS LATER he gave physical therapy an order for me to put full weight on leg as much as I could. 3days later he blames physical therapy for error and orders no weight on leg. This would be for months. I started having sharp severe pain in knee joint and unable to walk. He told me I'm going to have to learn to live with it, it's to be expected. 11MONTHS LATER he stated he could not find anything wrong. "Maybe we should get… another oppinion". I find the doctor I want a second oppinion with. I take a disk of my films to my first appointment. The surgeon looks at the film and tells me the Rod put in my femur to repair the fracture is now down into the knee joint. The've had to replace the joint 2 more times. and counting. I'm a nurse and am well aware that doctors make errors but they are only human. We all make mistakes. WHEN I FOUND OUT that the procedure that fractured my femur was contraindicated for me...I was numb... when someone pointed out to me that the date he recomended that I get a second oppinion was 2 months past the sture of limitations. To have him held accountable for actions.... I was hurt. I had so much faith in this doctor. Then I was angry and honestly still am. Not because of what I have been through , the active life I knew taken away from me, managing daily pain and isolation. But because HE KNEW ALL THE THINGS HE DID WRONG . HE KNEW HE COULD STILL DO SOMETHING TO LESSON FURTHER DAMAGE. BUT INSTEAD HE LET ME SUFFER, CAUSED MORE DAMAGE THAT CAN NEVER BE FIXED. HE WAS A COWARD, THINKING ONLY OF HIMSELF NOT HIS PATIENT. NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSABILITY...NOT EVEN AN APPOLOGIE THE LIFE I KNEW IS GONE. THE PERSON I WAS IS GONE. BUT THAT'S OKAY WITH HIM. HIS LIFE IS THE SAME AND NO ONE HAS TO KNOW... An individual that harms another and then continues to harm them has a twisted sence of humanity. Wish you all the best with the doctor you choose ...

Dr. Lorei spent a limited amount of time with me, but insured me of how great this operation proceedure would be, and he went right ahead forward to operate wihout trying any preventive maintenance or being sure not to operate on me while I was still medicated, and took advantage of an easy pay from medicare with total disregard for me or my future health or fellings as to what would, and wouldn't be, and then failed to copy important info after later appointments. Unethical, and Immoral dealings if you ask me, and I will tell you to not just take his word for anything, but get that 2nd or 3rd or 4th opinion, and be extra careful. I wish I was moreso now at this point after having gone through with a proceedure because of what he told me..do physical therapy first, lose any extra weight, and do not have any operation unless totaly necessary, and take all precautions please. I wish you all the best, and strongly recomend you listen to what I say. Don't do something you will be sorry… for because a Dr. tells you 1 thing, but it's all about the $$$ and what they can get from the insurance companies. Medicare they look at like a blank check..BE CAREFUL I WARN YOU ! Having that Dr or MD in front of there name does absolutely give some of these Dr's a so called GOD COMPLEX and we know they're NOT so I am warning you from my experience to be careful...Unethical, Immoral decision makings on his part 100%.... Do yourself the biggest favor you can before just having surgery, and listen to my words as I'm speaking from years of experiences, and this was a regretful one the way he handled it by far....
