Dr. Matthew W Reish, MD

After almost losing my thumb with a crossbow accident, the Shamokin ER did a horrible job stitching it back together. After it healed, I went to Dr. Reish for follow-up surgery to repair ligament damage and restore the full use of my thumb. He was very polite and seemed extremely knowledgeable. However, without providing reasoning as to why he wouldn't, he eventually refused to perform any procedures on my thumb to help restore it's functions.

Amazing doctor

Another doctor at Sun Ortho diagnosed me with a torn acl, but told me to get a second opinion, because knee injuries weren't his specialty. I brought the mri to Dr. Reish, who said he didn't need an mri to diagnose a torn acl. He did a physical exam instead and said it didn't feel torn. I asked what else might be causing my pain, and he said he didn't know. I asked if the mri could help, and he got offended, and said he didn't need an mri to tell him what was wrong. I left that day with no idea what was wrong with my knee but was given a rehab protocol of "try stretching more." I had to get a copy of the mri report to find out what I had: partial tearing of the acl. I tried to make another appointment with Dr. Reish, but he told me over the phone that the acl didn't feel torn, so he wasn't going to look at the mri. I then saw an ortho at Geisinger who actually looked at the mri and confirmed the partial tear. She said it wasn't torn enough to require surgery, but she actually… explained what was wrong and sent me to physical therapy.

I have no idea if Dr. Reish is. Good doctor or not. I was referred to sun ortho over 3 weeks ago after i met with another doctor at Geisinger for my issue. I didnt need a second.opinion I simply wanted to meet with Dr.Reish because my physical therapist recommended him for the surgery that I will need. For the past three weeks my records sat supposedly on his desk waiting to get a call to.schedule an appointment. Three weeks. Nothing. I called several times to schedule an.appointment My physical therapist even called to see why they hadnt called to schedule an appointment Again . Nothing. I finally went in to retrieve my records, i.e The referral from my doctor, the findings from my other ortho doctor at geisinger ,xrays etc. They didnt even know why i wanted an appointment! The staff was rude to me when i went in to not only to physically try to schedule an appointment after never getting a.return phone call but also when i went in to get my records.

Dr Reish was there for me for two years worth of fracture care followed by four surgeries performed by him. I am very happy with the ability to use my arm! I still have pain but nothing like two years ago! I now need to call the office to get his opinion on my ankle, (primary doctor sent me to Geisinger ortho, I hated that experience! ) I have my MRI report about torn perineal tendon and I will ONLY trust Dr Reish!
