Dr. Matthew David Skolnick, MD

This guys a classic example of a horrible doctor - orthopedic surgeon in the twilight of his career that never really amounted to anything. He's long overdue for retirement and can't really see patients anymore so in an effort to make money he works as a shill for work comp and car insurance companies to deny care for patients in exchange for money. I'm sure you are making your family proud for what you do. SMH

My parents have been going to Skolnik for 40 years! My mother has dimentia and my father has a ton of ailments from stroke to diabeties, high blood pressure and bypass surgery. If he sent my dad to a cardiologist years ago since my dad was a smoker for 60 years he wouldn’t be as bad as he is now. Since my dads stroke and bypass I have gone to many specialist with them and I have had several interactions to know that Skolnick messed up on many levels. One was he prescribed my dad Oxicodone after a fall my dad had which was 3 months after his stroke and 1 month after he was out of a rehab facility; a fall risk and using a cane to walk! I told him that it was irresponsible to prescribe someone with balance difficulties that medication! I learned this a year later going through my dads cabinet of medication and thank goodness the pills were full! It also took 5 requests to send 2 office visit notes and blood work (which never made it still!) to the stroke doctor who’s nurse told me her… mom coincidently goes to him and she has been trying to get her to switch for years. He called me at my request to tell me his bloodwork was good but called the next day for my dad to come in for an appt to discuss the blood work! I think Medicare would not like that. After 1 year of begging and my parents moving 30 min away they have finally left! I now have more piece of mind and less agrivation! The first visit with my dads new primary care physician and they said his diabeties was not controlled and his blood pressure medicine was too high making him a fall risk! (His last visit to Skolnik was only 3 weeks prior) The cardiologist and cardiac surgeon also got angry that Skolnik increased his water pill as this can cause another set of bad issues! He is a very nice man with the ability to put everything into perspective for the patients but that’s it! If this isn’t enough information to make you choose another doctor then have another family member read our experience. Unfortunately my parents didn’t know any difference but I do! Please don’t let him care for you and miss life threatening signs.

He "treated" me for my skoliosis when I was a teenager. He was incompetent. He told me my back would never change- he did nothing to help it or stop the progression that WAS happening.

He’s a fraud and a liar I wouldn’t bring me goldfish to see him!

Incompetent doctor. I had an independent medical examination with this doctor. My spine surgeon requested surgery for my neck. I had an MRI as proof that I have multiple herniation classified as moderate/severe. I have numbness going down my back & pain in both arms. He admitted I was bad shape for someone my age. He never examined me at all. I had a witness with me. He recommended against surgery. Now I have to have a WC hearing. I hope the delay doesn’t cause anymore damage. He’s now working on Long Island. God help anyone that goes to him. I believe he’s senile and should not be making any recommendations on anybody’s health.

I give him a ZERO worse Doctor ever !!!! Zero on all the above reason

Horrible horrible horrible ! Let the door slam in my face after he called my name to be seen next . He was 35 min late . Walked into an exam room without waiting for me and I had to find him . Then threw papers at me to sign and told me to walk all the way to the front desk to get a pen !!! No lie !! I was there for workers comp IME . He wouldn't let me speak after asking me a question because he was reading his previous notes . Rude rude rude and a liar . His notes never reflect what he tells you in person to do such as continue with your treatment . Then he writes to Workets comp you don't need the treatment and they cut you off immediately .Btw keep in mind every IME he does and spends a whole 5 min with you he makes about 180 bucks a person and lies . Stay away . He got 1.5 stars for a reason .

This should be retired dr. spends approximately 5 minutes with patient, 4 of which he is filling out paperwork. NEVER examines patient, but makes claims to fully examine and use tools to measure degree of disability. His reports are blatant lies. Good thing I recorded my visit. Don't get your hopes up for treatment, this guy knocks out any chance of that.

Many memorable experiences such as waiting for over 45 minutes in the waiting room as he decided to show up for the many others also waiting for him for their IME's. I knew when I heard the nurses saying he was never on time and shaking their heads that this was not going to be a great experience . It was not any experience . He barely looked at me and wouldn't let me speak when he ASKED me the questions ! He copied his notes from the previous visit and said he couldn't listen to me and write at the same time and held his hand up so I would not talk ! He lied about my entire condition in his report and even said I appeared depressed! Well with back , leg and neck pain waiting in a hard chair all that time I was in tears ! In pain ! He said my reflexes in my hands are normal and factually they never were according to 3 other doctors prior to him . If I walked in that office jovial that would be concerning . He wrote what I consider to be an unethical , untruthful report and he should… be investigated . If you need an IME refuse him ask for someone else . He saw me a total of 5 minutes . He in my opinion is in it all for the many many hundreds of dollars he receives from workers comp to give them low rating reports and lies about what you actually say . Which by the way is nothing because he doesn't let you speak . Do not go to this doctor . Horrific . Couldn't even read my films because he lacked the equipment to put them in to look at them . I ask how then can you write anything. Truthful when you have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about. Lining his pockets that's all . It's a pity what greed does. My opinion . I would rate him a zero if I could on this thing .

I saw Dr. Skolnick for an IME appointment I waited over an hour in the waiting room and I wasn't in and out of hi exam room in less then 1 min he lied on the report regarding extent of examination and said he used a hand held goniometer of which he did not and he tried to say I was faking my pain I have herniated discs in my neck and back and have to live on pain killers to function an get out of bed and walk everyday yet he says I have a mild disability. It is my feelings that he is being paid off by the insurance carrier to give them favorable reports as his examination was of no depth at all. He works out of a chirp prating facility at 718 Long Island avenue If u ever have to see him for an IME refuse it because u will recover a bias report and the insurance carrier will have their way with you.
