Currently, Dr. Thomas is an investigator with the North Central Cancer Treatment Group through Mayo Clinic and with the National Cancer Institute. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor with the University of North Dakota and Medical Director of the Hospice Program at St. Alexius Medical Center.

Dr. Thomas as published many professional articles on topics related to medical oncology and cancer research. he is also a member of the AMA, NDAMA, American Society of Clinical Oncology, International Hospice Institute and College, and American Hospice and Palliative Academy. Dr. Thomas is licensed to practice medicine in the specialty of medical oncology in North Dakota.
