Dr. Matthew Jon Vernon

Dr. Vernon seems to bill excessively for routine check ups. I met him to establish a primary practitioner and have someone who could continue my prescriptions which I have been taking for multiple years. Not only was my insurance charged for the initial check in but also an additional fee for "medication management" which quite frankly required zero work from him as his assistant typed in my existing two medications. He required a six month check in, which again I was erroneously charged a $300 for literally a 15 minute chat. He seems borderline unethical and is perhaps just making whatever claims he can to line his pockets. I saw him twice, with no real benefit from those visits and $500 of bills to show for it. I would not recommend him.

I was treated by Dr. Vernon mostly for hypertension and diabetes for about 18 months. Issues: 1. Billing - I was charged more money to ask a quick question. At an annual exam I was charged for both the annual exam and a regular appt. My insurance company felt that it should have all been covered under the annual exam, but Dr. Vernon would not change it. 2. Meds - I asked Dr. Vernon to renew a prescription that I was on with a previous doctor. I brought the medication bottle to the appointment so there were no questions. He called in a different medication and didn't counsel me on it. I called Dr. Vernon's office and asked them to fill the correct one. I was told I'd need to come in for another visit to discuss it. This situation happened twice. I've since changed providers and am on a different oral diabetes medication now that is controlling my sugar much better. The irony is the med I am on is one I asked Dr. Vernon about and he said it wasn't effective and was expensive.

My 68 year old mom had been seeing Dr. Vernon for two years. She was misdiagnosed with a bladder infection and given antibiotics without any infection being present. The antibiotics and unaddressed pain led to kidney failure. A more complete investigation would have revealed a metastasized malignant tumor. Albeit, he seems like a kind man. He doesn’t appear to take his senior patients seriously.

I am a new patient to Dr. Vernon and he is the most thorough PCP I have ever had. He took his time to listen to my concerns and was very personable. He called me over the weekend to address my concerns regarding lab tests and even called in additional testing for me when he was out of office. His level of professionalism, expertise, and concern for my well being went above and beyond my expectations. I would recommend him to all patients who need a top notch PCP

Dr Vernon is a great doctor listens to you , explains things well and works until he fixes any health issues you may have . has been my entire families doctor for 9 years . HE GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND . MISS HIM HERE IN OHIO .

If you are elderly and diabetic, then I would NOT recommend Dr. Vernon. We almost lost our mother due to his incomptance..there are far better qualified doctors in Middletown that will listen to the patient and order the proper tests for a diagnosis instead of blaming age for problems. our new Doctor is the difference in night and day. Wished we had fired dr Vernon earlier we could have ad voided a lot of heartache!

dr vernon refused to discuss more than one topic of medical issue on more than one occasion. didnt listen worth a crap anyway. this so called doctor will frustrate even the most tolerant. I dont recommend him for any catagory!

Nice Doc, but seemed to push off my anxiety /depression as being a Mom of 3. The office staff always argues with me about our balance even though we have set up a payment plan. My husband loves him, but I switched to another doc/office in the area.

Dr. Vernon is an excellant Dr. He seems to really care about the well being of his patients and not just the money he receives for treating each one. A true breath of fresh air!
