Dr. Maureen C Hughes, MD

Dr. Hughes is very compassionate and thoughtful. She spends so much time explaining things to me and goes out of her way to offer suggestions and creative ways to help me cope with a chronic illness. I am very lucky to have her on my medical team.

Dr.Hughes was exceptional, I had typed up a comprehensive health history and organized my symptoms in a 6 page document and before she came in she actually took 10-15 mins to read it through and she printed out test results from another neurologist and actually explained what it all meant. She went thru each of my symptoms and addressed all my concerns and even though lab results had been negative or inconclusive for MG she felt it presented that way and started me on the medication and it WORKED! After ten years I got a diagnosis and a medication for effective treatment in the FIRST visit. Highly recommended as I have seen so many physicians and she is one of a kind!

I saw Dr. Hughes for some intermittent aphasia I had been experiencing. Overall she had a great bedside manner. She listened to me and my descriptions of the episodes, asked me relevant questions, then gave her diagnosis along with a detailed description of what was actually causing the aphasia (turns out it's a migraine aura) and how it affected the speech area of the brain. She also ordered an MRI and followed up about the results very promptly.

She LISTENED to me about Fluoroquunolone Toxicity and took detailed information from when I first took Cipro and how it affected me then & now. She was able to help me from that info. SUCH A BLESSING!!
