Met Dr. Ortiz through my other cardiologist - he and his staff are both personable and professional - sometimes a rare combination. I have come to appreciate both the openness and honesty of all the folks in the office in both locations I have visited - sometimes in spite of pressing issues and other challenges. The staff always provides prior information when Dr. Ortiz is "whisked" away from clinic visits so I am not inconvenienced by a somewhat long commute to visit - which incidentally is another story; one that is favorable to both he and the referring physician.

Dr. Mauro Ortiz is my third cardiologist. He's a dream come true. Simply amazing. The best one I've found! My first was extremely rude so he was promptly fired. My second cardiologist was nice, however, she mis-medicated me and couldn't ever seem to fully answer my questions. I was always left confused and then yelled at because I didn't do something correctly. I am not a trained medical person! Not my job!!! I'll gladly learn but you gotta teach me. Well, when I moved to San Antonio two months ago, a coworker raved about her cardiologist. She said he was sweet, attentive, knowledgable, and took his time with his patients. I asked her if he'd sit with me for countless questions because I ask A LOT! She said yes and he'd do so willingly and happily. When I went, the staff was professional and courteous, my wait was quick in the lobby, and I experienced minimal waiting time in the exam room. The nurse who came in to gather information prior to the doctor was… knowledgeable, super patient, answered a gazillion questions for me, was straight forward and polite, and had an awesome sense of humor! I felt like I was talking to a friend. Dr. Ortiz was amazing. He has an amazing, kind, and funny personality. He sat with me for a VERY long time and answered every question with genuine patience and Understanding and ensured that I truly understood His answers. He explained my medication regimen to me so that I understood why I take what I do. He explained my medical condition to me in detail so that i understand my new needs and lifestyle changes. Something other doctors don't bother to do even when i asked! He got me on the perfect diet plan and didn't ridicule me for making mistakes. He's holding me accountable for my actions going forward but he does it in a way that doesn't make me feel belittled or defensive. He even shared his own personal struggles with me which let me know that he truly does understand where I'm coming from and what I'm going through. I've never been so satisfied or felt so safe with any other Doctor. For the first time in a year, I truly feel like I know what's going on with my body and understand what I need to do to manage my condition. That's a wonderful and liberating feeling! Sorry this is so long but a doctor this good needs to have a light shone on him for others peoples benefit! If u need a cardiologist, I urge you to pay him one visit. You will not be disappointed.

i had never had a doctor that spend quality time with a patient and make them feel like there were the most important patient of the day. There receptions excellent I am very happy with there staff.

Dr Ortiz is personable and caring. He is down to earth and gives you as much time as you need for questions.
