Dr. Max B Rubin, MD

Based on my experience with Dr. Rubin, he is insensitive, rude, inconsiderate, incompetent, and not worth his fees. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone. Avoid him at all costs!!

He is rude. He doesn't listen to what the patient is saying. I have been an H.S. suffer for 7 years as he tired to tell me to forget everything I know and know that I am a "full figured woman" I need to join the Y.M.C.A. to loose weight. That where my H.S. is located is not the "Norm." place for it and I don't have it. I just need to lose weight! Well thank you! I feel sorry for the next H.S. patient to walk through your door. I hope they have more dignity! To tell you off!!!

This doctor is rude, ignorant, and specializes in humiliation.

I went to Dr. Max Rubin at his office in McLean, VA, several years ago - I'm not sure if he is still there.He:- Made racist and derogatory comments about my background, saying that he would bypass a required pregnancy test to obtain a prescription for accutane, saying that "my father would kill me because (I am) from that part of the world."- When I asked him about protection against skin cancer, he said, verbatim: "You shouldn't have to worry about that, because you're from that part of the world."Now, I honestly don't know what part of the world Dr. Rubin kept insisting I was from. Yes, I have an "ethnic" name he has probably never heard of before, but I'm rather pasty white, and skin cancer is not to be taken lightly - it affects everyone of all skin shades. I told him that my mother actually died of malignant melanoma when I was a child, and was pregnant with me at stage 3 of her cancer. Shocked, and embarrassed, he mumbled something about "just being careful." I believe he thought… I was Arab, particularly with his "you father would kill you" comment (I am not Arab, not that there is anything wrong with Arabs - stereotypes are bad...BAD!)He gave me a small free sample of Retin-A, but attempted to charge me for it - or maybe this was because of the staff. In any case, someone flubbed.I would not recommend this dermatology office because of the extreme unprofessional behavior of Dr. Max Rubin, and in general, any practice that takes this man on board for his racist, derogatory, ill advising, and frankly, health-jeopardizing comments. I was too shocked at the time to say anything, but wrote him and the office a letter about 3 weeks after my appointment - and never received a reply. I wish I had taken this issue further, to prevent other patients from dealing with such an insensitive doctor.Do not go. Go someplace else. Avoid Dr. Rubin at all costs.
