Dr. Maximo Chua Kiok, MD

I have never had a humiliating visit with a Dr. until going there. He was rude and condescending from the start and when I asked if we could please get on with the assessment (I was so eager for help with my issues and had been looking so forward to the appointment) he stormed out accusing me of "being mad at him." I was so shocked by his outburst. The nurses had to come in and assure me that he was a "good doctor" then one of them stayed when he came back to do the assessment that included him leering at me while asking me if I "peed myself" and if I "hang out in bars drinking." He clearly hated that I spoke up for myself. I could see the shock on the nurse's face when he said these things. I went seeking help for neurological issues, not in pain and seeking medication, and I left sad and humiliated. It was truly awful and I wish I could forget the whole experience.

I had a telemed with Dr. Kiok regarding restless leg syndrome. I wanted to change from gabapentin to pregabalin. When describing my symptoms, Dr. Kiok kept interrupting me, said he didn't understand my symptoms, and basically said I might not even have RLS. I was initially diagnosed with RLS by my GP and then by a very well respected neurosurgeon. Dr. Kiok said I needed to have blood work done and if that didn't show anything, I'd have to have a brain MRI. His nurse called and said the blood work looked fine but the MRI showed I probably had a mini-stroke but couldn't give me anymore information and that Dr. Kiok would explain more in our next telemed call which wasn't for another month. I decided to go back to the neurosurgeon. He said me that my brain MRI was fine and he didn't see any sign of a mini-stroke. He also gave me a prescription for pregabalin which has helped my RLS. Dr. Kiok is rude and extremely condescending. He is probably the worst doctor I've ever been to… in my life and I'm 59 years old.

I have never been so degraded in my life. I went to see Dr. Kiok for real pain I was experiencing, and he insinuated that my symptoms were psychosomatic. He ordered a ton of lab tests and made comments such "we can order more" etc. I have heard of doctors treating patients like this, but I never thought it would happen to me. I left crying and have decided to never return to Sanford nuerology (Bismarck). I am a well-educated mother of 2 and just want help for my pain. I expect to be treated with dignity when I enter a physician's office. I now feel anxious and vulnerable to be treated by other doctors. I have no idea what my next step should be.

He was terrible, I left his office feeling totally defeated. I would never go to him again. He basically told me to go to Mayo because he doesn't know whats wrong with me. He didn't even look through my file before seeing me?
