Dr. May Yimei Huang, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. May Huang for over 10 years and she is one of the best in her field. She has helped me understand my vestibular and balance issues better and she takes the time to listen. The best!

OMG, I had to write this review after reading some of the comments about Dr. Huang. Dr. Huang saved my life. I had spent two years trying to find out what was wrong with me. I had two of ENT's look at me, two Neurologists, my eye doctor, my family doctor - all who gave different diagnosis, all incorrect. I had lost the ability to close my left eye, and I had an increasingly severe pain behind my left ear. I called their office on a Wednesday afternoon and I got an appointment for the very next day. She listened while I told my whole story. Then she examined me and immediately called for a scan of my head. She found a very rare cancer that not many doctors recognize. I am very grateful to Dr Haung for her thoroughness in examining me, her skill during the surgery after diagnosis and the caring follow up she provided to me both in the hospital and even phone calls to my home checking on me. As for her office staff, I found them to be extremely helpful and friendly whenever I… called with a question or concern. I highly recommend Dr. Haung to anyone with a hearing problem or, like in my case, an unusual symptom anywhere around the ear.

Dr.Huang had surgery on my ear drum . After she done the surgery, she didn't care much by asking how I'm doing and instead left some paper instruction in hurry and left. after surgery I visited her office for follow up check and she prescribed me bunch of unnecessary pills which i found out after I see the another doctor. She will charge you as much as possible and it seems like her staff and she really after your money. Once they done with you, they don't care about you even your complain. Overall experience was a very bad with Dr.Huang and don't waste you r money and energy with her.

I have found Dr. Huang to be a good listener. Her audiologist is also very patient with me. I lost my hearing and they have been very helpful as I have navigated all the issues regarding hearling loss

I have been to Dr. Huang three times now for an issue that started a few years ago. Dr. Hang was the only person to come up with a viable diagnosis and treatment regime that actually made a difference. She spends at least an hour with me each visit. She is very personable and ask questions about you and get to know you well. I enjoyed talking with her.

My experience with Dr. Huang has been nothing short of one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. Her staff is slow at best to return calls (if they ever do). I have to repaetedly make the same requests for information from staff members in order to process my insurance claims. On numerous occasions staff members have stated to me that they have been in touch with my insurance when in fact they have not. I communicate with my insurance on a regular basis and am aware of their turn around and procedures. I have never experienced the delays and lack of follow through with any of my other doctors. I am a patient person who works in the medical profession and I have to say that my experience with Dr. Huang has been the most unprofessional experience of my life. I would never recommend her to anyone.

I had an appt at 1030 and still waiting after an hour. She sees patient when she wants to, not minding the time of the patient's appt time. She'll be walking around the office and eat before seeing the patient. Discuss more of patient's concerns outside of the exam room with other patients waiting outside.

I can understand some of the poor ratings here, but those seem to be more related to the scheduling, the wait, etc. - essentially the office workings. As far as the doctor herself, and how well she does her job, I think she's at least above average. I had two complicated ear surgeries done by Dr. Huang, and I've had no problems at all in the 5 and 7 years after the surgeries. One surgery vastly helped in keeping me from getting ear infections, and also improved the hearing.The bottomline is, I think Dr. Huang is an excellent surgeon, but needs to work on the office operations and probably her bedside manner a bit.

I called into NW Ear on Friday for an appt. ONLY to have a hearing test before an appt. on Monday at another facility. I got hung up on 3 times trying to make the appt., that should have been a sign. I got there at the time told to me: 9:30am, and waited until 10:45 when the Dr. Huang came rushing in saying she didn't realize I was waiting in the room. She asked what I was there for, I said, "I need a hearing test before an appt. at Swedish on Monday." She put me in the chair and started poking in my ear, never got my history of being on antibiotics or what I had tried, because I didn't know why I was even in the chair (I thought maybe they did a pre-hearing test exam or something??) and she didn't ask. She said, "well, I don't see much, take some mucinex D" and then got up (the appointment was about 5 minutes long at this point)and said, "Ok, let's go on out" and I thought at that point she'd be leading me to wherever the hearing test was. No dice. I said, "what about the hearing… test?!?" She had no idea what I was talking about."Uh... I scheduled this appointment for a HEARING TEST for another appointment on MONDAY." I explained for the 3rd time. "Oh, are you still going to keep that appointment?" she asked. "Yes, yes I am." Since she did nothing my general practitioner hadn't done a week ago when I presented the symptoms to her- before I'd gone on a course of antibiotics and still I had pain. "Oh, well the hearing test guy isn't even in the office- looks like he'll be here this afternoon, can you come in at 3?" This, mind you is on a Friday, at 10:45am, which means my whole work day is shot at this point. I guess they had a new receptionist who doesn't know what she's doing and didn't hear me/understand me when I said I needed a hearing test before my appointment at swedish on Monday. And the doctor was in too much of a hurry to hear me say it either, or even ask my history. So I don't just blame the receptionist. Not in the least. Terrible bedside manner. And I left with more pain in my ear than when I arrived, after she poked around in there. I was crying while driving away, out of frustration and pain. F-
