Dr. May-Li Barki, MD

I have been going to Dr. Barki for at least 5 years. I have never been married and have always wanted children. I recently started to have issues with no periods and Dr. Barki quickly told me that I was menopausal and that I most likely wouldn't be able to have children. I have been through a lot of family issues and the stress has been over the top. I just turned 40 and have always had normal periods. I felt like she didn't try to do more to help me and actually was very rude when she told me this I started to cry and she said," You aren't going to cry on me are you". That was it for me. Then as she was walking out she said I guess I'm going to have to put you on hormones and supplements for years now. Like she was put out to have to take care of me and like it was my fault. I know she is smart but I always feel like cattle being prodded through the doors and she never answers questions and makes me feel bad if I ask. I am now looking for another doctor. I will never go back she made… me feel even worse about a lifetime dream lost. You can never put a price on the loss of being able to have a child because it is a gift from God.

very rushed, no patience.good seller- very expensive vitamins .Will not be using her again and would never refer her.

very rushed, waited over an hour for first visit and then my history was not considered before ordering a very aggressive proceedure which ended up not being indicated at all. office was dirty, some instruments on the floor and changing room smelled foul. will find another doctor, only changed to Dr. Barki due to insurance changes, will not return. would never recommend her to a friend

I went to Dr. Barki for birth control and wanted to discuss a few options with her. She spoke quickly and was very rushed. Also, I asked her about other forms of birth control and she said to talk about that after I was married while standing at the door as if she couldn't wait to leave the room. I asked about altering my period before I get married and she said call in a few months. Brief, inconclusive answers and if I were grading her for USMLE certification as a student I would fail her! "knowing your stuff" is not a substitute for adequate bed side manner and anyone reading this deserves better, go elsewhere.

Dr. May Li Barki knows her stuff. She is quick, blunt, and very forward with her opinions. HOWEVER she is very medically minded and very averse to natural methods of birthing or prenatal care. When I refused the flu shot (which is very harmful to your body and very ineffective)she basically told me that if my baby died...not to come crying to her.I always waited at least a hour, and at least hree times we were there for over two hours. She pushed me into a c-section for a supposed "failure to progress". I later found out she had put me on more drugs than I was told about which resulted in a blurry, rushed, and very medical birth which was the opposite of our birth plan. She lied to me about the necessity of certain IV's and I had to wait at least ten extra minutes on the operating table listening to the nurses wonder aloud at "Where's Dr. Barki?", "Someone did tell her we're in here right?" We were always pushed to pay and pay and felt that that was the main priority of Barki's office.… Will not be using her again and would never refer her.

Dr. Barki is a very good Dr., but she has become more concerned with selling very expensive vitamins than anything. Her nurse Rhonda is wonderful. Dr. Barki made some rude comments to her within hearing distance of patients and her peers. she could have waited until the end of the day, Rhonda runs her butt off at that office. perhaps the office could hand out info on the vitamins instead of a sales pitch in the examining room,more time was spent on trying to sell the products than the exam, sorry to see the way things are going, may need to look around.

I have been a patient of Dr. Barki's since my pregnancy in 2004. She has always been very direct with me and yet she has always been very caring towards me & my family. I have read a lot of reviews on her & about how she isn't caring and whatnot but after 7 years I have to say I have never had a bad experience with her, or her nurse Rhonda. They are very loving people. Dr. Barki has seen my mom, grandmother, late great-aunt and a few other female relatives as well & all have had rave reviews. Yes, the wait to see her for an appt can be a bit long at times but that is how a lot of dr's offices are nowadays it seems. Over all, Dr. Barki is a very kind, genuine, knowledgeable & caring doctor with years of experience. She has never made me feel like I as just another number.

Dr. Barki seems very knowledgeable and she diagnosed a very serious issue, which I appreciate; however, in the few times I saw her, she was not fully present. She is very busy and it shows. I felt hurried and, given the seriousness of my condition, wanted to ask questions and have them answered thoughtfully. I was not given that opportunity - she was very short and did not seem to appreciate any dialog on my part. She delivered my bad news unexpectedly and without my husband present very flippantly, in my opinion, saying my 'insides were a complete mess' and that children were not going to happen. I don't need a doctor to hold my hand and talk about the weather, but don't think it's too much to ask to expect their undivided attention and compassion, especially when giving bad news.

Dr. Barki is an excellent doctor. She is very straight forward when she talks to you. I found her to be professional, she answered all my questions and took the time that I felt like I needed to discuss my health concerns. When I went to Dr. Barki the first time it was because I had been ill and bed ridden for months. Dr. Barki and my general doctor figured out what was wrong with me and got me back on my feet. I feel like I was given my life back. Dr. Barki became my gyn doctor after this appt. I would never think of going to anyone else. Dr Barki does sell vitamins but never brought the subject up until I asked her about taking supplements. I would recommend her to anyone with great confidence. Thank you Dr. Barki

I was Gestational diabetic 2 years in a rowe and Dr. Barki was the absolute best. She was kind, patient, yet straight to the point. Her nurse and staff has always treated me with the kind and courteous mannerisms which are far and few between nowadays.
