Dr. Mayer E Ballas, MD

Dr. Ballas, is very upfront & tells you what has to be done to avoid heart attacks & to avoid heart surgery & other major health issues. He is also a great humanitarian & offers any spare time he has to aiding patients in the hospital through the Sephardic Bikur Cholum. Bikur Cholum, translated into English means visiting the sick.

OK doctor. With that being said, Dr. Ballas does not follow though when needed when pharmacy ask. Prescribed medication to me and Express Scripts required additional feedback from the doctor to explain and I was left in the doctor. He refused to do it. I changed doctors.

He comes in late to the office, does not read the chart before he sees me. does not explain anything to me. I had to point out to him that my potassium was too high and even with the report from the lab in his hands, he insisted that a potassium of 6 is normal ( i had to pointed out of him , at which time he said yes it is high). He ordered an echo that was done in the office which shows calcification of the mitral valve but does not mention that this valve is a prosthetic valve and he signed off on the report , w/o questioning the tech that did the echo. every time i would complain that I am out of breath and can't clime stairs or walk 2 steps w/o gasping for air. His answer was " you are old what do you expect, you are over 70 yrs old
