Dr. McKenna Campbell-Potter, MD

Dr. McKenna Campbell-Potter is a board-certified sports medicine physician specializing in the nonsurgical evaluation and management of acute, chronic, and overuse musculoskeletal injuries in adolescents and adults. She currently serves as a team physician for St. John's University. Dr. Campbell-Potter is committed to helping her patients stay active and engaged in the activities most meaningful to them. She takes a comprehensive approach, addressing not only on the injury itself but also the factors that may have contributed to it. She utilizes a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, including structured exercise and rehabilitation programs, ultrasound-guided injections, viscosupplementation, and platelet-rich plasma. She strives to provide holistic care that empowers patients to reach their movement goals with confidence. Originally from Minnesota, Dr. Campbell-Potter graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Luther College in Decorah, IA. She earned her medical degree from the …University of Minnesota, where she was elected to both the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. She completed her combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics residency at Yale University, followed by fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Hospital for Special Surgery. As a fellow, she served as a team physician for the New York Giants, New York Mets, Westchester Knicks, St. John's University, and the NYC Public Schools Athletic League. Dr. Campbell-Potter's clinical and research interests focus on running medicine, bone health, and the female athlete. She received the Charles L. Christian Award for Excellence in Musculoskeletal Research for her study on injury patterns in distance runners training with carbon-plated shoes, and she continues active research in this area. Outside of medicine, Dr. Campbell-Potter enjoys running in Central Park, experimenting with new recipes, and attending dance performances across New York City.
