I arrived at Los Robles Hospital just after midnight when my blood pressure spiked to dangerously high, stroke-level numbers. The ER was overwhelmed—patients on gurneys lined the hallways—and it was a frightening situation to walk into. Dr. Swede stepped in right away and treated me with calm urgency. She quickly assessed what was happening, expedited my blood and urine tests, and closely monitored my vitals. As soon as the results came back, she reviewed everything with me and stayed attentive while my blood pressure and heart rate gradually returned to normal. What meant the most was how clearly—and kindly—she explained what was going on. She walked me through what likely caused the spike, what I can do to help prevent it from happening again, and exactly what steps to take if it ever returns. Because she was so thorough and efficient, what could have been a four-to-five-hour ER visit was closer to 90 minutes. She discharged me with detailed reports to share with my cardiologist… for follow-up care. Dr. Swede is an excellent physician—compassionate, efficient, and genuinely reassuring in a stressful moment. A real credit to the medical profession.
