Dr. Meera Amar, MD

Dr. Amar was my endocrinologist for four years (unfortunately I moved and had to seek a new doctor this year). Dr. Amar, the nurse practitioner, and office staff were all wonderful to work with in understanding my condition and scheduling unexpected appointments. The billing office is also good, always filing with insurance correctly with only copays and small lab fees out of pocket. Although Dr. Amar is quite busy, she was always happy to answer any questions concerning my ultrasounds and lab work during my scheduled appointments with her (some appointments were with the nurse practitioner in office). She even helped to give advice on what to look for in a new endocrinologist when it came time to move. Overall I am very happy with the care I received!

Dr Amar is the best doctor that I have been to, She is very caring and compassionate and I am doing so well now because of her. She treats my diabetes and cholesterol. The staff are very helpful and get me prescriptions and samples when I need. I have nothing against the office. Excellent service, been going there for 10 yrs.

Dr Amar is excellent and I am so glad I went to see her. She saved my life.I went to different doctors and no one diagnosed my problem and Dr Amar did and she saved my life. I feel good now. She is very caring friendly and spent time with me and answered all my questions patiently. She follows up after visit. I still keep my appointments.Staff are very caring too. One of my friends seeing her for 15 years told me to go to this doctor. I am glad I did and I highly recommend her. I have blue cross insurance.

My diabetes has been under better control ever since I have been seeing Dr. Amar. She is understanding, and spends a lot of time with the patients. I am most impressed with her attempts keeping up with the latest trends and being continually abreast of diabetes. Her soft way of persuading (without preaching) has motivated me to take care of myself better. I never exercised and she said that was the best way to bring the blood sugar down.I never in the beginning kept up with my appointments and was erratic, and could never get easy appointments, however, after I became regular i realized it was not the fault of the Dr, or the staff but my own. She saved my life, in finding out my problem, diagnosed and treated me with my thyroid problem I find her very friendly, caring with excellent bed side manners. Office staff are very good. I do not agree with other comments. I did not get that care at Scott and White and transferred to Dr Amar.

I will never return to this doctor. She is, unfortunately, the only endocrinologist within about 70 miles of Waco so some people dont have a choice but I thankfully, do. She was rude to my husband and myself, staring down her nose at both of us during the initial appointment, and giving us the third degree about what our jobs were, habits, etc. She may be a very intelligent doctor but from that initial visit and one subsequent visit and her demeanor was still the same - I will happily drive 80+ miles to Dallas to see someone that has an actual bedside manner.Oh and I also called to get a refill on my insulin. It was my fault, granted, that I didnt have the foresight to see how little I had left, but the doctor said it couldnt be refilled until I had an appointment with her. It is insulin, I have to have it for my insulin pump. These were not pain pills or anything like that! I had to basically throw a fit and they agreed - I will never, ever go back to them!!
