Dr. Megan Ann Defrates, MD

Dr. Megan Defrates is, by far, the best pediatrician with whom I have ever had the pleasure of assosciating. She is professional and logical, yet incredibly personable, approachable, and caring. My children absolutely adore her and sometimes even ASK to go to the doctor, just to see "Dr. D."We have never waited longer than 10 to 15 minutes to see her. No matter how many patients are scheduled, I have never once felt rushed in her office, which allows me time to organize my thoughts and not forget to address my concerns or ask questions I have regarding my children's care. At one point last year, our baby was very ill. I contacted the automated service for the office, and Dr. Defrates promptly returned the call, though it was late on a Saturday night. She advised me to take him to the ER, but also told me to page her again as soon as we knew his diagnosis, no matter what time of night. She even followed up the next day... and the day after that. To me, that went above and beyond… what could have ever been expected of her, and her actions gave me the peace of mind that my son was very well cared for.The staff in her office is an intregal part of what makes everything run so smoothly. From the friendly receptionists at the front desk who both receive patients upon arrival and schedule appointments, to her nurse who is knowledgable, compassionate, and patient, the professionalism in this office cannot be matched.We first found Dr. Defrates when we lived just minutes from her office in New Lenox, out of a need for a pediatrician with a convenient location. After we moved, the travel time to the office increased to 30 minutes one-way, but continuing our children's care with this incredible pediatrician is well worth the trip."Excellent" and "Four Stars" just do not seem adequate enough as ratings to describe our satisfaction with Dr. Defrates. I would highly, highly recommend this pediatrician to anyone and everyone. She truly is one-of-a-kind.

Dr. DeFrates is an absolutely fantastic pediatrician. She is the primary care provider for both of my sons, ages 2 1/2 and 6 months currently. As far as making appointments, the courtesy of the staff is superior and I have never had a problem booking an appointment for a time and date that I have requested. On the day of our appointment, our wait time is negligible both in the waiting room and in the exam room, while the time she spends in the exam room with us far exceeds expectations and is not rushed at all. She is so caring and truly enjoys her work, and it is expressed in her willingness to listen, her kindness toward her young patients, and her genuine empathy and understanding as she eases parents' concerns. Not one part of the visit is rushed, and she takes care to pay close attention to little details that most doctors from past experiences just assume skim over. She has personally followed up on visits with phone calls, sent hand-written thank-you notes, and has gone… above and beyond what is expected. Bottom line, if you are a parent who is searching for a pediatrician who will truly take an active interest and a caring attitude toward your child's health and development, Dr. Megan DeFrates should absolutely, without a doubt, be your number one choice.

She listens to you is great with kids and will only do what your child needs. She is not an antibiotic pusher. I am so pleased to have found such a wonderful doctor.
