Dr. Mehras Akhavan, MD

Dr Akhavan is a wonderful and caring Doctor. He has been treating my back injury pain or a few years now and has been a life saver for me. I highly recommend him.

When he stopped taking my insurance, he had his staff call and cancel my appointment 10 days before I was scheduled to come in and refused to fill my prescriptions until I found a new doctor. The law states that he give me notice, prescriptions up to 90 days after, accept the insurance payments from my provider, and provide continuity of care. Instead he left me with no medication knowing it could result in possible death. The medication cannot be stopped suddenly and I can't even go to the ER until I'm in serious withdrawal and in need of medical assistance.

I have degenerative disc disease and have been seeing pain specialists for the last 10 years. The experiences with my previous doctors and their office staff have been less than optimal. Not the case with Dr. Akhaven. After five months of his treatment. I'm very satisfied with every aspect of his practice and the professionalism of his staff. I would recommend him to anybody seeking a solution to chronic pain

Not only do I think that Dr. Akhavan is a great doctor, but I also think he is a good man that genuinely cares about his patients. I have been seeing him for the past 7 months now for a chronic pain condition and he, along with "South Pacific Rehabilitation" physical therapy, have helped me manage my pain and strengthen my body. Another important aspect that I greatly thank Dr. Akhavan for was his help in eliminating my dependency on opiates. It was a goal that we both had from the very first appointment, and through his careful guidance as he monitored my pain levels, we finally succeeded! His staff is also an A+, especially Silva who was always there to greet me with a smile at the front desk, always answer my phone calls, help me get the appointments that fit into my schedule, and get messages to the Dr., or even connect me directly to him. She is an excellent office manager! Another story that I want to share is when I changed medications while going into the weekend. Dr.… Akhavan had the foresight to give me his weekend phone number in case I had a negative reaction to the new medication, which I did. I was able to contact him that Friday night and he helped guide me back on track and away from the medication that I did not react well to. I don't think I've heard of any other Dr. doing that before! That gesture provided me much needed peace of mind. Overall, it was a great experience being treated by Dr. Akhavan, I highly recommend him because he helped me achieve my goals from having chronic pain for over 8 years.

Great doctor

I have been treated by Dr. Akhavan for five years since I fell after having back surgery. He is an excellent listener and takes his time with you. As a Registered Nurse, I can say he has an excellent bedside manner. He has always asked me how effective the treatments he has prescribed for me are and always considers my ability to carry them out without any undo stress. He never overprescribes medications and always evaluates their effectiveness. Dr. Akhavan is also very kind and patient while always remaining professional. He has never judged me and instead, has always worked with me to find the best forms of treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Akhavan.
