Dr. Melchor Gavino Barros, MD

Doctor gave me a diagnosis code for "mild alcohol use disorder" because he couldn't find a spot to list my mild alcohol use (no disorder exists). Told me that a 109 fasting glucose result was not a pre-diabetic level, doubled and tripled down on repeating incorrect test result numbers, never asked about other factors, but still put in the chart that my levels WERE pre-diabetic level. I could go on. Avoid this doctor.

He is polite and caring.

Dr. Barros has been my doctor for over 20 years. He is a caring and compassionate man who will go the distance to make sure you get the very best care. If he doesn't treat it, he will make sure to recommend a great doctor who will. He was also my Mother's doctor and when she was admitted to Hospice and listed under the Center's doctor, he still came to see her on his rounds every morning until she passed. He is the best!

Stay away. This doctor is only interested in billing you and insurance, and provides not service. I scheduled a Wellness visit for my Daughter to establish a local doctor. We were told this was not a Wellness visit, but an initial visit. They did nothing. Spoke to us and read paperwork and billed insurance $185, and wanted a $25 co-pay. This place is a racket.

Dr. Barros has been my husband's doctor for over a year. I never liked his 'bedside manner' (attitude toward patient), but my husband was OK with him. So, we stayed with him. Until today. He cannot handle actual, 'real' illness. My husband needs help with oxygen and an evaluation of his heart functioning. A doctor we saw last week (specialist) relayed this to him. Barros didn't even discuss the heart issue or physically examine him. He repeated four times (yeah...we got it...we aren't stupid) how insurance won't cover oxygen use unless you meet these tests, blah, blah, blah. Barros even began the visit by insulting my elderly husband with , "Well, YOU wanted to leave the hospital." (Seriously?? Who doesn't? But, then a good doctor would decide that for himself and shut up.) Barros then went into what he does well....his preventive medicine checklist. Flu shot? Cholesterol check? Taking your prescription?? "Oh, yeah. Except my husband is extremely ill and those aren't of… MAJOR concern right now." He would do well in a preventive medicine clinic. Something he can handle. He is very rude, very condescending and has no 'heart', no empathy towards ill patients. Go inject Botox and rip off immigrants, Dr. Barros. Your clinician skills are very sadly lacking and your personality and manner towards patients is incredibly, awfully, BAD. I advise anyone to see another doctor. He, in fact, should be reported for his 'lack of care'.

Super expensive for nothing. Unwelcoming staff. No good referrals.

Dr. Barros is very thorough in his examination and follow-up.
