Dr. Melissa Dworkin, MD

I've gone to Melissa Dworkin since she started practicing medicine (over 25 years), and she is quite simply the best doctor I've ever had! (I started with her in NYC, and then followed her all over Westchester, because she is so good.)

I have been overweight my whole life, and very insecure i have a history of an eating disorder. Becoming pregnant is one of the happiest times of my life and i knew i would gain weight of course. At 16 weeks she looked at me and said "did you really gain 6lbs??" I felt so awful and cried home and the joy of seeing my baby and knowing it was healthy was tainted. There are ways to say things, i have been a medical assistant for almost 12 years and i've worked with numerous doctors, but i have never heard someone make them feel bad for their weight especially a couple pounds and PREGNANT. I had to switch Doctors at 20 weeks and i am so grateful for the doctor i am seeing.

Love Dr Dworkin! She is an excellent doctor, plus, she’s kind and compassionate. She’s very calm and takes the time to talk with you and put you at ease. Always a great experience with her!

I had the misfortune of having Melissa Dworkin deliver my baby because my doctor was out. As my first child, this was a horrible, terrible experience. Melissa was short, rude, dismissive, and did nothing to make me feel comfortable. She was very rude to my sisters who I wanted to stay with me through this new and nerve racking process. She was in and out of my room and I barely saw her during my labor and delivery and when I did see her, she was always curt. Go to her at your own risk.

Dr. Dworkin does not listen to her patients and risks putting them in danger by not listening to their concerns. I visited her office to address severe pain and discomfort after an ER visit for kidney stones. When I expressed that I developed a UTI, that my symptoms were not normal, and that I needed medication, she was extremely dismissive and condescending. She refused to prescribe antibiotics and didn't take my pain seriously, suggesting that I was overreacting to dryness, not an infection. even though my symptoms were getting progressively worse for weeks prior. When I awoke in the middle of the night not long after the appointment, feverish, and in a screaming amount of pain, I knew enough was enough and called her office to demand antibiotics. Had I not been adamant about the treatment I needed, I could have developed a kidney infection. Unsurprisingly, the antibiotics worked and my symptoms went away. I never went back.

I was seeing her as a first time patient because I my previous gyn moved away and it was awful. I would ask her questions and she would look at me like I was stupid and roll her eyes like I should know the answer to my own questions. It seemed as if I had burdened her with my appointment. And when I was answering questions about my medical history she scoffed like she was judging.

Dr Dworkin is amazing. She is knowledgeable, kind, and caring. She took the time to answer any questions I had and made sure I was completely comfortable with her exam. I highly recommend her.

Office staff is very disorganized so good luck getting correct test results. I recieved results for the same test 3 times in a row when they had said they had ran others on different dates and I needed all of the results. Then I was told that the Dr had to review them meanwhile I just had a visit with her where she said she saw them. Now I’m left not knowing if they just kept giving me wrong results or if the tests had even been run when they said they had been. If this isn’t enough I had one visit to her where a sensitive situation was going on and I also had to get my yearly mamo at the same time. I took the mammo she sent me for after the visit which came back with an abnormal result. I never heard from her or the office about this. I found out through my GP. I needed additional mammos & a biopsy and still never heard from her or the office. My GP had to take care of everything. So her & this office are incompetent or unprofessional & incompetent. Either way I would never go back… & now she’s made me nervous & apprehensive about going to another office.
