Dr. Melissa Louise Torrey, MD

Terrible doctor. Doesn’t give patients the time of day. I almost died in her care after a GI infection following chemo. Then she didn’t even have the decency to discuss what happened with me. Literally her nurse told me she’d talk to me at my next chemo session in 3 weeks. I switched doctors immediately and just wish never went to her. I would not recommend Dr. Torrey to anyone.

I have grown to like and appreciate Dr. Torrey who I have been going to for almost four years. She does order a lot of tests but that's ok with me because it gives me the confidence that everything is good. I never feel rushed and cannot say I have ever waited more than fifteen minutes.

This Woman almost gave me a Nervous Breakdown I was dealing with stage 1 Breast cancer She ordered way to many unnecessary test I found a new Dr who is wonderful

I could not be more displeased with the way Dr Torrey treated me. I was made to feel like I was an inconvenience when I asked questions, if I could get them in before she was rushing out. Her Bedside manner is awful, no comparison at all. She's treating Cancer but forgets she's also treating a person.... On a positive not, her Fellowships/interns that work with her are Wonderful!

Dr. Torrey, in spite of the description of her in Scripps Web Page, is in a hurry, and doesn't listen to her patients. I felt like I had been BLOWN off after my last visit....I did not have a chance to discuss my concerns at all....

Dr. Torrey and her wonderful staff treated me for breast cancer. I required chemo, surgery and radiation. Dr. Torrey is always available. Her level on care and concern transcends the usual patient doctor relationship. I couldn't have asked for a better partner in this battle.

I went through the very aggressive Armstrong protocol chemo for advanced ovarian cancer, Dr. Torrey stayed on top of every lab test, replenishing what I needed to physically survive the tough regiment. She was always accessible, and gave very clear, direct answers. I was comforted that she was in my corner, giving it to me straight, and modifying my treatment to what I needed. I am finishing the last chemo session tomorrow, with Dr. Torrey and her staff basically carrying me over the finish line. Could not have made it without her care!

Scripps Anderson Hematology is a chaotic and unorganized department with long wait times for both the doctor and the inept schedulers whose attitude reflect their misery in working at this facility. Dr. Torrey orders unnecessary tests according to my gut feeling and other hematologists who I consulted after seeing her for 9 months of utter frustration. DO NOT GO TO THIS DOCTOR!
