Dr. Melissa Lynn Valdez, MD

I met Dr. Valdez for the first time during my labor at Presbyterian Hospital. My son was not in the best position for my desired vaginal, natural birth. Dr. Valdez, in the mere minutes she spent with me had no tips or strategies for helping to turn my baby, nor did she try to figure out his position and reasoning for lack of descent. When I asked her point blank, “what can you do to help my baby descend?” Dr. Valdez replied verbatim, “You can push him out or I can cut him out of you.” She gave me illadvice to push with no urge every 2 minutes for 4.5 hours. She also advised I hold my breath. She has a terrible reputation in helping women desiring natural childbirth achieve their goals. I did end up with a cesearean and she thankfully did an acceptable job assisting with it. My doula, husband, and any medical professional I have shared this story with were and are are horrified. Maybe she was having a bad day, yet she had the bedside manner of a polecat. I do not recommend her… services unless you desire a cesearean.

This physician is NOT a student. She is in her last year of Residency as an OB/GYN doctor. That means she has been an MD for over 3 years. Get your facts straight, she is an exceptional doctor!
