Dr. Melvin Tepler, MD

This office is the nastiest I have been too. The secretary are non accommodating, yelling at you if you are not satisfied instead of keeping it cool. The dr. is ok with adult patients but once kids come he has no patience and actually tells them they are faking and lying and to grow up.

I did npt enjoy my visit to Dr Tepler's office. He was rude and did not seem to care at all. I would not recommend him to anyone.

It happened about 16 years ago but could never forget this experience. My son broke two fingers on his left hand and was bleeding.So, we found the nearest doctor and ran to see him. When we came to the office my son's fingers were bleeding and I was almost in shock. We couldn't get a referral before but the nurse from the PCP office called Dr Tepler office and told them that she's going to Fax it. Nobody cared in the office. Whild we were waiting for the referral, the child was bleeding and they didn't even pay any attention. They told me that only after I pay $200, doctor would look at my son.I gave them a check right away. We didn't really have any problems after this. He took care of my son, and the office even return my check after the get referral next time we visited the doctor. Maybe Dr Tepler isn't a bad professional but he and his nurse are just cold-blooded people. It was a really horrifying experience. I just remember how they didn't really care at all and didn't even try… to hide it.

My wife fell down some stairs and I called EMS because she could not rise from the floor for 45 minutes because she was in so much pain. I brought her to Dr Teplers office and he took some x-rays and pronounced that everything was ok. He then ridiculed us for bothering the EMS for something so trivial. I questioned him as to why she could not put any weight on the foot if everything was ok. He didnt give me an answer because he was too busy thumbing through a magazine and he gave me a dirty look like I was bothering him. He did not wrap her foot and he did not give crutches. My wife had to hop out of his office holding on to the walls for support.After a few days my wifes foot felt worse and I made an appointment with another orthopedic doctor for the end of that week. I insisted that she goes to our internist immediately to get some prescription pain killers to tide her over until she sees the orthopedic surgeon. Our internist sent her immediately to get a sonogram of her leg and they… found multiple blood clots. My wife was hospitalized for 8 days and was on blood thinners for a year. Oh and they took x-rays in the hospital and found 2 breaks in her leg.Long story short, Dr Tepler is nasty, condescending and indifferent to his patients and also lacks the knowledge to read an x-ray properly. Ive since spoken to 2 other people in my neighborhood that have had similar experiences with his treatment.

People are talking about how bad Dr. Tepler is. Everyone has a horror story. There are those who want to sue him. He has harmed patients with his indifferent mis-diagnoses. Before I found this out, I went to him with a broken ankle. He hurt me when he touched the ankle, and when I yelped a little, he said harshly, "Relax!", and he kept hurting me. And then he told me I should be back at work in one week, in spite of my protesting that I take three trains and walk 34 blocks each way. I found a much better, gentler, and sympathetic doctor. Dr.Tepler is cold, cruel and uncaring.
