Dr. Michael Akpeke, MD

Dr. Apeke is a great Dr. I was hesitant on seeing him because of his reviews but took a chance based off the recommendation from my Orthopedic Dr. and i'm glad I did. He is very knowledgeable and very caring. He takes his time with his patients, doesn't rush thru the visit and is very thorough. He is a straight shooter so you might not like his delivery method but your body and health will thank him. Don't let negative reviews cheat you out of seeing a good Dr. that will do everything in his power to help you.

I am still trying to fully process the appointment I had with Dr. Michael Akpeke. Just so you are aware of this doctor, here is a detailed description of my experience. When he came into the room he didn’t even acknowledge me and went straight to the computer. After about 5 minutes he turned to me to give me a finger and took a phone call from his friend, on speaker. He asked him why he left the party so early and asked him for the pictures of his girlfriend. When he was done on the computer and with the personal call on speaker he turned to me and blurted out…”vomiting, diarrhea, fever, itchy eyes, runny nose, sore throat, swollen glands…etc..” I said, “what?” He said, “do you have any?” I said, “no”… then he said, “sit up there” (pointing to the medical table) he did some sort of stethoscope random touching then said, “lay down” did some more random touching. Then he followed by sticking an ear light so far in my ear drum I had to shout “ouch”…it still hurts. He said, “you can… sit back over there”, pointing to the chair. Then, even though I brought a negative COVID test result he decided to berate me for not being vaccinated. He went on and on and seemed to not understand what medical choice was. We actually had an argument. Then he blurts out, “you’re doing an AIDS test”… I said, “for what?” he said, “it’s procedure” then he walked out… the nurse came back and brought me to the front desk and the woman said, “you’ll come back in 6 weeks to take these tests… then she said, “no 1 week before and then 6 weeks.” Not only was this the most unprofessional appointment I have ever had in my entire life it was borderline abusive. He a a joke of a doctor and should not be near any human being with a heart beat.

Akpeke was my assigned Hospitalist after thoracic surgery. He obviously makes things very difficult for anyone he interacts with if they don't have exactly what he wants exactly when he wants it. When it came to my pain management in recovery, he said one dose and prescribed half that dose. It took me THREE DAYS to get anything from him and the only explanation was "that's how he always does it", then he "supplemented" what he actually gave me by prescribing something I am allergic to!!! Wouldn't even take two minutes to verify my allergies before throwing something at me to shut me up. The poor sap that actually got me answers from him was told he'd be getting a talking to by Akpeke later that day, FOR BOTHERING HIM ABOUT A PATIENT IN HIS CARE. I'm so beyond disgusted with him.

The doctor is very knowledgeable, explains well in a manner is easy to understand and shows interest on his patients well being

The best knowledgable internest available. Will always be honest and give the best care. The best conductor for all issues medical. Really the top of his field. A very handsome man.

De. Akpeke has been my Dr for at least 8yrs he’s an awesome professional, caring and compassion! A very thorough Dr., his Nurse Practitioner Regina Gamble-Scott is the same way! I love her dearly she been there for me in many crisis. She made sure I was comfortable and well cared for. Thank you both, keep the good work!!! It’s so hard to find good Drs.!!!

Doctor Akpeke is very caring and will go above and beyond for his client's and their family.

I guess people are just afraid to tell the truth. It is hard to get a good Dr. who is kind and careing, compassionate and concerned. This guy is definately the WORST ! He kept insisting that I do what he tells me to do with out any discussion at all. He insisted that I get health insurance even when I told him that I couldn't afford it. He said" So you'll have some left over". Like it is no big deal. Then insists that I should go to this Dr. and that Dr., when I just told him I couldn't afford health insurance. He just talks about what he wants and NEVER asks about how I'm feeling. Very inconsiderate and not interested unless you do what he wants. I also think that he is very bigoted towards overweight people and Caucasian people.

It is hard to say that you enjoyed going to the Doctor's office - no one really does - but I always looked forward to spending time with Dr. Akpeke. Not only is he a good Doctor, he is one that obviously sincerely cares about you and keeping you healthy. Should you ever have to go to the hospital he will be there, coordinating your care and looking out for you in that unfamiliar and frankly scary place. You also won't find a friendlier staff anywhere.
