Dr. Michael David Altheimer, MD

I am a new patient and have had a very good experience with my first three visits. Dr Altheimer got me on the pump and all was going well until my last visit. The pump is a learning experience and on my last visit, it was on a different setting than it was initially set on. I had not changed it and did not know how it had changed. He proceeded to tell me that I should have known and that I didn’t need to be on the pump. He continued to make belittling comments and made me feel like an idiot. He said that I needed to go through the training again and didn’t need to be on the pump until I learned how to use it. He said that if he were with the DMV that he wouldn’t renew my license. In talking with the trainer, I found that there were a couple of ways that the setting could have changed and now I know. I bought a new car about a year ago. I still learn things about the settings on it that I didn’t know but it doesn’t keep me from driving it safely. I need a doctor that’s on my side in… wanting to help me not one that will make me feel stupid.

He was the first Dr. That actully took time to listen to me and get a full background.

I am so grateful that Dr. Altheimer is my Endocrinologist. He listens to my concerns and needs and asks good questions about my symptoms so that they can be better managed. I had never, ever been treated by an MD who reviewed my record for more than a moment or two before entering the exam room until I met Dr. Altheimer. I was very impressed that he had thoroughly reviewed my patient information and lab results before meeting me. He was prepared to provide excellent care and education, and he has done exactly that. He also expects the same excellent service from his staff. This is a very experienced and professional team that I trust implicitly with my health care.
