Dr. Michael Majid Amiri, MD

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Amiri‘s for about 9 months. At my first appointment when Dr Amiri came in, I didn’t necessarily mind him putting his phone on his computer, as I see others note, because I know sometimes doctors have emergencies, but I told him my 30 yr history of chronic migraines and all the many docs and meds I’ve tried. I really hoped that he was listening, but I feel like he’s out to lunch!! SERIOUSLY INEPT!! I felt rushed to relay everything I needed to. I had told him I CANNOT take one particular class of popular migraine meds, and evidently he didn’t hear any of that. Very quickly I was out of the exam room, going to the pharmacy to pick up 2 well-advertised, brand-name migraine meds. … The very ones I told him I was allergic to!!!! Not only did insurance NOT cover this, but the pharmacy doesn’t even keep it in stock because it is rarely ever prescribed! This is a national chain, if they don’t have any patients using it then there is a reason! Got prior authorization… completed to cover the cost of those two meds, but the correct dosage and count wasn’t even written correctly! I paid $190 for two medications I cant use. (They only come in a box of 10 and his prescription was written for 9! WHO does This!? Have I just been spoiled after dealing with effective doctors all these years?) When those didn’t work I went through another 4-5 months of constant messages and TOTAL DISASTER at every turn, because what Dr. Amiri would call in was not even a dosage that is made for the medication he was prescribing!! His nurse knew that certain dosages were no longer used by pharmacies, and I’m sure she reminded him. I cannot trust him to call in the simplest of scripts~~ even my pharmacy has had it with his nonsensical “prescribing.” It’s pathetic that a patient knows what the correct dosage of meds is and HE doesn’t, even after 20 years. This isn’t just a one time thing that he got mixed up, this has happened every single time I’ve had an interaction with him. This is deeply concerning and it makes me so angry. It’s also frightening to think he has patients in the hospital that he is overseeing and writing prescriptions for. At my very first initial visit he told me he wanted an MRI and a CT of my brain. Three months later~~ do you actually think he’s ever ordered them!?? I don’t know what’s going on with this man but he’s a loser as far as helping patients. If you’re in chronic pain, expect to wait days or weeks until he can get it together and write a prescription, and at that point you MUST immediately call pharmacist and ask if it was written correctly. Seriously considering contacting the medical board. His nurse must be made of GOLD, because she knows exactly what needs to be written, and she cannot get him to reply to her either. Michelle is so kind and overly patient. She deserves not only his salary, but 25 STARS for what she has to put up with! She’s 10 times more effective than he ever dared to be. I thought long and hard about writing this review and at this point I am over the mental anguish required to be his patient. What do I have to LOSE!?There s very little doctoring going on here. Gheesshhh...The most unprofessional person that’s ever held a medical license.

Dr. Amiri is condescending, demeaning and judgmental. Did not even make eye contact when meeting me. He was insulting and cruel. He is a narcissist. He never took all my problems into consideration because he would not listen to me. His office staff was unprofessional and insulting as well. I am a 2x cancer survivor and I have NEVER had such a horrible experience with the entire practice. No compassion, no empathy and obviously no genuine care for others. I would lose my job if I treated people the way I have been treated. I cried in Dr. Amiri’s office during our appointment because I was trying so hard to hold back my anger and frustration. He blamed all of my neuro and cognitive issues on anxiety, at least the ones I had a chance to tell him about. He met me, reviewed my file, listened to a fraction of my concerns and offered to write me out of work because of anxiety! If he was with Novant or Atrium I would be reporting him to them.

I came across this site while I was making a list of the doctors that I have seen and their medical addresses just for my personal records. I noticed that Dr. Amiri seemed to have a lot of one star reviews on this site. I personally found him to be a really good doctor. I wondered why the one star reviews, so I started to read a few. 1. One person is in love with the doctor’s nurse and believes that he should be seeing her. 2. Another was upset that the doctor did not chit chat with their child and listen with a great deal of attentiveness to what their child thinks is the toy of the week. Then drool over their child’s vast knowledge of children toys. 3. Several seemed upset that the doctor did not spend the entire visit looking at them. 4. Several were upset that the doctor spent the time testing them and recoding his findings. When according to them he should have used the time telling them how great they are and all the good things that they do, especially Mr. & Mrs. Old Hags. 5.… The reviewer that complained the he waisted too much time testing them and not chatting with them enough. After all, she was famous for out talking the call machine at the DMV. 5. I love the one who was very, very upset because Dr. Amiri did not discuss all the medicine that they take, nor did he mention the 365 illnesses they have. He came into the room, introduced himself, asked how I was doing, gave me some small test and recorded his observations. He did not wast my time or his. completed his testing, offered me so advice for helping me with memory loss, informed me that he had completed the testing for the day and show me which way I had to go and what I needed to do. For me, that is what a doctor is expected to do. I do not care what the people down the street do. I have a life.

We were there for my 11 year old. There was absolutely no interaction AT ALL, he barely spoke, I did more talking than he did. He never introduced himself to any of us. He stared at my son, not really assessing him, and made him feel very uncomfortable. He answered his cell phone in the middle of our visit. He changed his medicine and couldn’t tell us what the difference was between what he was already on and what he was putting him on!! Do not waste your time. Horrible visit!!

Had his back turned to me my entire visit, speaking into a machine while someone recorded his observations. Not sure how well informed these observations could have been when he's not even looking at me? He truly did not want to hear about how I felt, or ask any questions but could not wait to prescribe anti-anxiety medications and get me out of his office. I've heard from others I know personally, people I think highly of, who have also had some extremely negative/ bizarre encounters with this man. In my opinion, stay far away and do not take your kid to Dr. Amiri!! (This is based on stories I've heard from family who had seen him for serveral months before finding a way to get their child to another specialist). 100% Untrustworthy, unprofessional and no compassion.

Long waits.Terrible bedside manner- ride. Unsatisfactory care and horrible follow up during illness.

Ohh all these 1 star comments, I completely disagree. Give this guy a break please! I know him on a personal level too and he is a great person with a lot of compassion. Being from a different culture sometimes can be interpreted differently. He orders all these tests because he wants to make sure that you are alright. I went to him for vertigo complaints and he ordered me an MRI to confirm that I have vertigo and not something else that can be dangerous for my health. He can only hear your complaints but can't see what is going on in your brain or spine. He has to order tests to rule out other diseases you may be having. I personally would want to make sure that my symptoms are not caused by something else in my body. Headache for example can be happening due to many different health conditions. To find out the exact reason, you need to undergo several tests and as your doctor he is doing that. Instead of attacking him here, try to put your self in his position. He is the doctor here… not you and it is his call. He is the kindest person you can ever meet!

I wish I would have read this before I went to him. Service was terrible. My first visit when the took me back into the room with him, he wasn't even ready for me. He put his finger up and told me to wait while he was transcribing someone else notes. then he got a phone call. i feel that's very unprofessional he didn't do anything but write me nerve medicine and sleeping pills and had me walk up and down the hall and told me to schedule a follow up visit with his PA and I never saw him again. The did these expensive test on me that I now have to pay $2000 out of pocket which was a spinal take and a EEG. When all I needed was a MRI which I never got which I was waiting 4 months for before I switched neurologist and that was the best I did for my health!!!!

Worst Doctor I have ever been been given a referral to by anybody!

Having seen many neurologist I was hesitant about seeing Dr. Amiri but gave it a shot, and I'm so glad I did. I've searched for answers for years for my disorder and Dr. Amiri gave me information that made complete since. He was observant and genuinely wanted what is best for me. He is very wise and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend him.
