Dr. Michael Donald Banas, MD

Not overly impressed. Saw Dr.Banas once and the visit was routine. Going back for symptoms I saw the P.A. who was attentive and ordered tests. My complaint is that I never get results of any visit or tests posted to my patient portal as my other medical practices do. No response to fact the meds are not working or that I continue to have the same symptoms. I have to beg to find out what's going on.

Dr. Banas and his staff at Great Lakes Cardiovascular are phenomenal! The treatment which I received was kind and compassionate and all of my questions and concerns were answered by them quickly and reassuringly!

I have a terrible fear of doctors, maybe even some PTSD. When I knew I needed to find a cardiologist I asked for recommendations, I needed someone who would listen and not brush me off, as well as not scare me away. After reading the direct recommendations people provided I went and read reviews online. The only negative thing you'll ever read about Dr Banas is when his office support staff mess up, nothing bad about him. I was living with a very treatable but extremely debilitating issue, for 27 years. It got progressively worse and I just lived with it. And probably would have continued if it hadn't started happening to my kid - and no one would take me seriously about it. I HAD to see a doctor and seeing Dr Banas was the best thing I did. He sat with me for probably 45 solid minutes, just asking questions and listening to what i had to say. I was able to describe my symptoms in such detail that he canceled the further testing that had been ordered by another doctor and opted to… prescribe me medication immediately. This medication has changed my life. I didn't even know what I was missing until I had it all back. My son was diagnosed at the same clinic a week later. There was also some concern of a genetic condition that can be fatal and Dr Banas jumped on ensuring I had the tests for that immediately. I had a call back from his office within an hour of me leaving and was offered a Saturday appt. Oh and something small that I love: he texts with his patients personally. When I was anxious for those test results he was able to put my mind at ease with a simple text before we were able to have our follow up. Do support staff people sometimes screw up? Absolutely. I've had 2 out of maybe 20 interactions that were less than stellar and the other 18 were A+ In either event I refuse to rate Dr Banas as anything less than a 5, because he deserves all of that and then some. At the very end of our discussion at that first appt he said to me; I know you feel alone in this but I promise you, you aren't. I see this all the time and I can help. And he has. If you are looking for the best cardiologist in this area, he is your guy!

I was sent to Dr. Banas by my GP due to risk factors. I was very nervous about going. Just the thought of going to a Cardiologist scared me. The receptionists were very nice. I was taken into a room to wait for the Doctor by a nurse who took my vitals. I didn't wait long at all for Dr. Banas to come in. He is a very pleasant man. He was very calming and explained everything to me. He reassured me by telling me that my GP was doing everything that he would do. He told me what his plan of action would be and made me feel at ease. I am really glad my Doctor referred me to him and would highly recommend him.

There are very few doctors who actually look you in the eye when you are discussing your care, or they have their medical assistant taking all the information down and come in and just take your pressure and pulse. Dr Banas was extremely knowledgeable not only about cardiology, but also my other medical concerns. He was not judgmental, did not have the doctor ego, and made me feel at ease when I spoke to him. When medical practices are becoming so huge, and you are only known by a number such as at Roswell, Dr. Banas is a breath of fresh air. I would highly recommend him for his knowledge and above all his active listening skills. A contemporary physician with a philosophy of those of the past. The wise sages who could diagnose without running a gambit of tests.

I went to Dr. Banas to get cleared for surgery after an abnormal EKG. He told his office clerk, Hannah, to make an appointment for an ECHO at Millard Fillmore Suburban on Friday, and an appointment with him that day. She was supposed to call me. I waited the rest of Thurs. to hear from them. On Fri., I called their office.The clerk told me to call Millard Fillmore myself and make an appointment. I did for Mon. at 11:00. On Mon. I had the ECHO. Mon. Dr. Banas' office told my surgeon that I did not keep my appointment for an ECHO on Fri. I called Banas' office and explained what happened. I had never heard from his office about the Fri. appointment and I had gone Mon. His office called back and told me I did not have the ECHO, and there was no record of it. I needed clearance for surgery by 4:30 Tues. Finally, his office found the results for the ECHO. A miracle. I waited the rest of Mon. and all day Tues. to hear from them. So, I thought my surgery is canceled because I can… not get clearance from Dr. Banas', and something must be wrong with my heart. Then at about 4:25, I finally heard that my surgery was on. If you like to be frustrated, irritated, and given the run-around, you will like this doctor's office.

I was recommended to Dr B by my GP. I turned 65 and a baseline Cardio was recommended due to family history. Fast appt, everything explained in detail, all my questions answered. Good listeners, nothing rush, rush. I am happy to be Dr. B patient.

Best Cardiologist around. He diagnosed me almost on the first visit. Nice personality also.

I am a relatively young cardiac patient with an uncommon heart condition. My previous cardiologist was less than attentive and could have cared less about my quality of life. Dr Banas listens to my symptoms and actively works to correct any issues I may be experiencing. My quality of life is leaps and bounds better than it was under the previous doctor's care. I cannot say enough good things about him. He takes time and listens, then works to help you. Great doctor.

Dr Banas is an excellent doctor who truly listens and cares. He knows what he's doing - and knows how to get it done right away. Technologically savvy, empathetic, and he "gets it" when I'm explaining what's going on with my symptoms, and my concerns.
