I had ankle surgery with Dr.MIchael Bednarz for an internal brace procedure, but unfortunately, it was not successful. I later had to undergo another surgery with a different doctor to remove the brace, as it had been place incorrectly. What disappointed me the most was the follow-up care - despite ongoing pain and swelling was “due to one bone rubbing against another “, without further investigation. Thankfully, another specialist identified and correct the issue. Im sharing this experience so future patients can make a more informed decision.

I recently went to Dr. Bednarz’s office. When I got there, I realized no masks or social distancing was required by the office. The front office staff didn’t have masks on and neither did the back office staff until right before they take you back. When I asked Dr. Bednarz why didn’t all the staff wear masks, he quickly said, it’s not necessary, you have a mask on. I told him I’m older and have health issues, and doesn’t he care about protecting his patients? He aggressively told me it was my choice to be there. Unfortunately, how was I to know their Covid policies ahead of time? He also said he didn’t believe in the virus, which floored me. I asked him to tell me about my foot and I was out of there. I called the corporate office to see if their Covid policies were company wide, but never received a call back.

Would give Bendarz negative stars if I could. It's been the worst experience in the medical industry I've ever had (and that's saying something!). I don't even know where to begin. He "gave" us a boot that costs $70 on Amazon... and then later billed us for it for $500 without ever letting us know what the cost would be. The boot wasn't even the best kind for my wife's injury we later learned, it caused her more pain. When we expressed that and asked to return it for another boot, we got no answer. At our first appointment, Bednarz recommended an MRI... and had his office schedule it for my wife 1 week out. We went to that appointment 1 week later... only to find out Bednarz had canceled it for some reason and never told us. We then had to get another one scheduled at a different location for another week out. They told us the MRI was pre-certified. Turns out, they lied about the pre-cert. They forgot to send in the paperwork on time, so at the time my wife got the MRI it actually… wasn't pre-certified. Learned later that the insurance company (Aetna) denied coverage b/c we didn't follow a doctor-prescibed rehab treatment (RICE, essentially) first for 6 weeks. Seems Bednarz should have known that from all his experience working with ankle injuries and Aetna... not to mention filed the paperwork on time so that they then could have let us know it wasn't going to be covered BEFORE the test. As soon as we *politely* expressed some dissatisfaction with his office, we never heard from him again. He will not speak with us, despite our asking to. We only get to talk to the front desk worker, Mandy. I have emailed him personally and gotten zero response. He blames everything on Mandy. After further complaints, they agreed to bring the bill for the boot down to their cost ($50)... but then months later we got a bill again for $500. Absolutely absurd and unprofessional doctor and practice.

My mother's original bunion surgery was a epic fail. Her toe died and I mean black like leather. Dr Bednars actually grew her a new toe!!!! If you want the best and your feet are a mess - I encourage you to see him.
