Dr. Michael Eric Birns, MD

Been having problems for while with hip and back. Dr birns didn't bother to view my mri or xrays, even after I asked. Seemed pretty dismissive of the time and amount of pain I have been in. I said my insurance doesn't cover his company's PT and I leave with PT and a list of his company's locations. I get no rush to operate and conservative approach. Didn't care to really answer my questions about hip and back and how they may tie together. Will be looking for another hip Dr, if you can't or won't look at my mri I don't think I don't want you looking in my hips with arthroscopic surgery anyway.

I recently broke my clavicle so bad when I had my x-rays done the PA told me it was the worst break she had ever seen in her 10 years of work. My collar bone was completely broken in two separate spots with one piece skin tenting near my neck. I had surgery with Dr. Birns a week after my fracture which was an extremely painful week while keeping my arm as stationary as possible. After my surgery, I spent above 5 days in a sling without much motion in my arm but I had no constant pain at all. After about two weeks I had full range of motion back with no pain. Now about two months after surgery I can hardly tell I had fractured my clavicle besides the scar. Dr. Birns explains every thing for well and the reasoning behind the decisions he makes for his patients. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone

I visited Dr. Birns this morning for back/hip/leg pain. He is the nicest Dr. you could ask for. Great "bedside manner", really cares, listens to you, explains, and has solutions. Prescribed PT, which is fine for me. Plus, he has a good sense of humor. (Very important to me)

Our 17 year old ballerina daughter had ever increasing hip pain. She was seen by others and did months of PT. No change, it actually got worse. Dr. Birns saw her, and diagnosed a labrum tear recommending arthroscopic surgery after a MRI, CT scan and exam seemed consistent with that finding. He advocated on her behalf with the insurance company and gained approval. During the surgery he found three issues in the hip joint involving the labrum and repaired it. Our daughter is recovering well and his follow-up and communication during the process has been outstanding. Great job!

Dr Birns is an excellent doctor who is professional with amazing bedside manner, plus he truly cares that you get better. I have never had a doctor explain so much to me so that I could understand what was going on with my shoulder. I recommend Dr. Birns to all of my family and friends. he is the best!!

Dr. Birns has an excellent bedside manor. He was super helpful in diagnosing my shoulder issues. I had pain for so long and he was quick to set up a plan to get me feeling better. I have been feeling so much better and able to do things I have not been able to do in so long! I absolutely recommend Dr Birns for any shoulder issues you may have!!!! You cant go wrong!!!!!

Very thorough examination and explanation of my problem. He helped me with my rotator cuff tendon issue and I feel 100% better now and have already gone back to playing golf. Highly recommend!

Dr. Birns is absolutely fantastic. After tearing my ACL and needing reconstructive surgery, he walked me through every step of the pre-op, post-op and rehab process/ timeline. He talked to me like a person in a very conversational tone and explained what was happening in a way I could understand without being condescending. For me, the thought of surgery was super nerve-wracking but Dr. Birns, his assistant, Brittney, and all the nurses the day of surgery made me feel completely at ease. When I woke up from surgery I was in a lot of pain (not shocking). He was like a helicopter parent, getting the anesthesiologist to administer the nerve block immediately. After I was home from surgery later that day, he called to see how I was feeling and to ask if I had any questions. Incredibly thoughtful. Dr. Birns is hands down, the best doctor. Should you need an orthopedic doctor/ surgeon I would strongly encourage you request Dr. Birns.

Explained to me everything about my rotator cuff tear and answered every question I had! Really took his time.

Dr. Birns and his entire staff were very friendly and helpful. He was clearly knowledgeable about my injury and took the time to explain what I could do to heal faster. I completely trust Dr. Birns and plan to see him for all of my sports-related injuries.
