Dr. Michael Alan Blum

Dr. Blum is an amazing doctor and I wouldn't bring my children elsewhere. When he has been out we have had to see another doctors in his office and they took great care of my children as well. I have heard they are relocating to a nice ground floor level in another building and we will be following them for sure!!

Dr. Blum IS a very hands-on type of pediatrician. He is hands-on with his patients (appropriately so), AND he is hands-on with his patients' families. I have a feeling the latter is where people get a little uncomfortable. He hugs siblings and mommies. He shakes the hands of dads. He spends as much time as is reasonably required to not only explain his opinion but to also make his patients' parents feel comfortable with that opinion. He is diligent with his stance on appropriate use of antibiotics. He makes referrals when warranted. Overall, I've found our experiences with Dr. Blum (with 3 boys now) to be very satisfying. He's never missed a diagnosis and gives my family the attention they deserve.

I thought Dr. Blum was fun and knowledgable at first, but we switched to another Dr. in the practice after one time when he used inappropriate language to try to make a point. Then he was the only doctor available one time this year, and he made another very inappropriate comment. I was embarrassed and very uncomfortable. So was my son.

My family's experience with Dr. Blum and his staff has been very positive. If it's flu season, I know we're going to be waiting for a while. However, we've also had appointments where we've seen Dr. Blum and been out the door in less than 30 minutes. A previous reviewer is correct - he is touchy-feely and for my family that adds to a personal touch to our relationship. However, like that reviewer, I've had co-workers who used him for their children and also felt uncomfortable with his style.

Dr. Blum is an exceptional doctor and is so knowledgable.

I have a feeling that Dr. Blum only has poor reviews on here as most people would rather complain than praise someone. He has been correct in diagnosing both of my children. And my kids are not terrified of him as they are of most doctors.
