Dr. Michael Bolton

Dr. Bolton was unprofessional and did not do a good job of providing a proper diagnosis and medication. I felt that he did not consider all of my symptoms in making a diagnosis and was not engaged in our regular meetings, to which he was often late. He asked minimal questions and gave the impression of not listening to my concerns. His approach seemed more formulaic than thoughtful, and I was given very few options for treatment. When I expressed that a medication had stopped being effective and was possibly making things worse, he gave no alternatives besides increasing the dosage, and made it seem like there weren't any other options when I expressed concerns. This was only the second medication I had tried. After a significant mental health crisis, I was given a different diagnosis by another psychiatrist who actually considered all of my symptoms. This disorder is less common but very clearly matched my description of my experience and is treated completely differently. The… treatment for this disorder has been vastly more effective and has not decreased in effectiveness long term. I believe that Dr. Bolton's misdiagnosis and choices of medication exacerbated my symptoms and contributed to putting my health in jeopardy. He does not do a good job of listening and is not engaged enough to properly provide diagnosis or treatment. I do not recommend seeking his care.

Dr. Bolton is certifiably one of the worst doctors I have ever met. He did one good thing for me, which was diagnose me with ADHD which was something that I have believed I’ve had my whole life but was always shrugged off (I’m a young adult now). This has been game changing for me, I’m able to be efficient, to get things done and be organized better than I ever have even come close to in my life. With that being said… Dr. Bolton is undeniably the worst, most disorganized, most unaccommodating and laziest doctors I’ve ever had the displeasure of knowing. Aside from that initial ADHD diagnosis, receiving treatment from him was a nightmare (I’ve gotten a new doctor). I had to look up online. ONLINE. Multiple times symptoms, signs, and ways to manage aspects of ADHD. He sent in the wrong prescription of ADDERALL, A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, or sent it in multiple days late, MULTIPLE TIMES. It’s lucky that I’ve seen lots of drug addiction in my life. An uninformed person might not realize just… how bad that can be for you. Because it’s bad. Impossible to schedule with. Reach him with a question? Forget about it. Prepare for upwards of 3 days of phone tag with his assistants, if you have a daytime job or school. Appointments are at the most 40 minutes, and he was many times 10-15 minutes late. For someone looking for someone to help them learn and make major life changes following a lifetime of living with an undiagnosed illness, well, he was just about the most unhelpful person I could have had as my doctor. Never wanted to talk about any issues I was having. Routinely brushed off all kinds of concerns, about medication, personally, you name it. For someone who markets themselves as a psychiatrist AND a therapist, I would recommend being good at BOTH of those jobs. If you’re somebody who wants a doctor who will give you your medication and send you on your merry way, maybe this is your guy. But if you want someone who is actually going to help YOU and give you the treatment YOU need, to serve as a guiding figure through wellness, stay away. I find it ridiculously ironic that he calls himself a mental health doctor… someone who is meant to help you with your mental health, and he succeeded in not only *ignoring* me regularly but also jeopardizing me by messing with my MEDICATION REGIMEN. THATS HIS JOB. If you care about your mental health, stay away.

Late to every single appointment, does not feel like he cares about giving you personalized treatment. Appointments were only 5-15 minutes long, feels like he is always in a rush to give you a prescription and move on to make his money with as little effort as possible. Gives out adderall as a cure-all and doesn't listen to feedback or take questions seriously. Very frustrating experience.

He is very experienced and committed with treating adhd and trained at Harvard

Excellent psychiatrist, truly helpful.

I wouldnt see him if i were paid to do so. He was rude and did more damage than he helped

In my opinion and more than a few doctors that i discussed it with Dr. Bolton acted unprofessionally, unethically and could not live up to his own professional standards. I believe that he also violated my HIPAA rights and he should avoided at all costs
