Dr. Michael Alan Burgin, MD

Having worked as a health care professional during my career at John's Hopkins hospital and Walter Reed Med Center ( where presidents are taken for care) . Dr Burgin is the best I have ever known.

I had the privilege of calling this man my doctor for more than a decade after being referred to him by mother who had the even greater privilege of calling Dr. Burgin her primary care physician for more than 30+ years. There is no better person you could ever ask for to become your physician. He truly is the best of the best. A sincere man who genuinely cares about what it means to be called somebody's doctor. He takes great personal responsibility in and is 200% invested in what it actually takes & means to be responsible for your care as HIS patient. Dr. Burgin takes all the time necessary to provide for you the kind of medical care & personalized attention that every patient seeking a physician's help would ever want. Dr. Burgin gets to know you. He actually sits and talks with you. He gives his patients every bit of his time necessary that he & the patient (YOU) needs inorder to really get to know one another. Dr. Burgin listens to the person he's treating. And he let's you know… that you're being listened to & understood by the manner in which he so promptly & respectfully attends to each area of your treatment needs. He's punctual, honest, sincere, highly intelligent, and very well respected amongst his peers. He never let's you down. And most unfortunately, Dr. Burgin is a rare & dying breed in the field of medicine today. And I'm sad to say, going extinct even. Now-a-days, doctors have no real interest in taking the time to get to know you. They no longer invest the time necessary to really sit with a person and actually get to know them as an individual. Today's doctors don't take the time to understand their patients and seem them as real people, with real names, and with real needs in their lives. Prior to Dr. Burgin becoming my primary care physician, it had always been my experience with doctors that you're just another number to them, more specifically, the number corresponding to the door you're behind in their office that particular day. They rush in- They rush you through to the point they want you to make/get to- And they rush out again as fast as they possibly can. Now that Dr. Burgin is leaving OSU Stoneridge & direct client care, unfortunately, it's back to that kind of "doctoring" I go, along with his many, many other sad, but enormously grateful patients of his. You're the best Dr. Burgin! Thank you for all the many years of EXCEPTIONAL care that you provided for me & for mom. You'll really be missed. But we wish you nothing but the best of luck in your future endeavors!!

Dr. Burgin is thorough, knowledgeable, caring, patient, non-judgmental, very easy to talk to, and always available by email. We begin each appointment by going over my meds, any changes in my conditions, and the goals set at the last appointment, and go from there. We set a goal at the end of each appointment, even if it's maintaining the success I've had. I credit him with helping me get my blood sugar under control after many years of trying (yes, weekly emails with daily readings were part of the process, as were trying different insulins in different doses until we found a combination that worked). He's also helped me maintain my health in other ways (better diet, flu shots, regular eye exams, colonoscopies, things I would otherwise put off). I can't say enough good things about him.

As a physician, I've had the opportunity to see all sides of the medical system, that is, by observing my peers provide care, providing care myself and being a recipient of care. I've never encountered a physician as unique and special as Mike Burgin. He is without doubt one of the smartest people I've ever met, knowing the most up-to-date literature and it's appropriate application, but is also practical, cost-aware and patient focused, always. He is warm and easy to talk with, and is also right on target with his advice and counsel, no matter how difficult it might be to hear. He is truly a physician's physician. My biggest regret is having had to move away from his care, but I envy and admire the patients who still see him.

Dr. Burgin is an amazing doctor! He is incredibly intelligent, knowledgable and dedicated. He is very compassionate, has a great sense of humor and truly cares about his patients. And I swear he works 24/7 because he answers emails nearly instantaneously. He is the best of the best.

Dr. Burgin is excellent - not only does he actually read what was discussed from the last visit & talk over any lingering issues, he asks questions, and he pays attention. He also is willing to use email for questions or refills, which is the most time efficient thing on the planet.

Dr. Burgin epitomizes the finest qualities of an internist. He makes himself promptly available during email to help determine whether the medical issue warrants further investigation. He follows up with medical problems and provides detailed feedback. For his responsiveness, dedication, expertise, and professionalism, and genuine kindness, I give him the highest rating. He is a bright star, and I appreciate all that he does for me and his other patients.
