Dr. Michael W Collins, MD

Dr Collins is NOT a MD as title states. He was not helpful at all. I am a college athlete who suffered a severe concussion and unfortunately this man was not kind, patient or caring. He repeatedly told me sternly “Look at me!” while we were talking about my concussion symptoms. He cared more about disciplining me than he did about treating my concussion! He made me so uncomfortable to the point where I felt bullied so I got up and walked out of his office. He discharged me from his practice before I could even retake the Impact test and get back to my baseline. Completely unprofessional! He actually told my Mother that he was “trying to provoke me.” Disgusting behavior for a so-called expert. Stay away from this man.

Dr Collins is an extremely dangerous doctor. As he has gained success and notoriety in the creation of the “Rethink Concussions” movement he has become biased and intolerant to the facts his patients experience and report If they contradict his theory that you must treat concussions by “attacking” them with activity. If a patient tells Dr Collins rest helped the symptoms he will become combative in disagreement during the appointment and begin to deny the facts presented to him. He will even begin to blame the worsening symptoms on the parents and the child. He will also ask the child leading questions almost making them feel obligated and pressured to answer him the way he wants them to answer to support his beliefs. When his flawed theory is challenged and the parent or child indicates that activity is worsening concussion symptoms he becomes visibly angry and refuses to believe the explanations. He will Also become extremely defensive and rude when being given information that… challenges his theories. Its sickening to see the cult-like practice that he engages He is putting my child’s and most likely other children’s safety at risk
