Dr. Michael Brian Cotter, MD

Dr. Cotter was amazing per usual, he’s always very detailed & thorough. He explains everything so well and he truly listens to his patients and their concerns. The office staff and nurses, we wonderful per usual, I never have an issue when I visit.

Dr. Cotter and his staff are wonderful. Kind, gentle, caring, professional, and thorough. Wouldn't go to anyone else.

My visit was great he breaks the information given if you do not understand. And Dr Cotter has an sense of humor that lightens the atmosphere during my visit

New patient visit was easy, I felt he was knowledgeable and honest.

Dr. Cotter aggressively told me that I must do a scheduled delivery of my baby. Of course this was a lot easier for his schedule, but I did not want that as such deliveries are linked to permanent learning disabilities in children. He then said he would dump me and no longer be my obstetrician and that then I would have no doctor because him dumping me would be in my permanent medical record and then no doctor would be willing to take me on. Fearing that no one would be willing to deliver my baby, I was forced to comply and now my baby suffers from learning disabilities.

Dr. Cotter is all about his schedule and his sleep. He does not want to be woken up at night to deliver a baby, he told me quite clearly. During my pregnancy every slightest issue I had such as simple weight gain, he would say that I had no choice but to "schedule" my c-section. He was extremely aggressive in this demand, constantly threatening not to be my doctor if I do not comply and saying once rejected by one obstetrician, that I would not find another one anywhere in the country. I was eventually pushed into a scheduled delivery due to a supposed scheduling glitch at his office which I now think was no glitch at all. He stormed into the clinic room roaring that I had supposedly missed an appointment and how dare I. In fear of not having any doctor to c-section and get my baby out, I felt practically constrained and I ended up getting the baby out 2 weeks early during a scheduled delivery, before any contractions, and before baby was ripe and ready. My son now has not met any… developmental milestones. He does not smile and it has been months. Dr. Cotter will not be the one having to spend a lifetime caring for a special needs individual as I likely will. But he sure did save hi sleep schedule for 1 day.

I had the worst experience with any obgyn of my life with Dr. Cotter. He had poor bedside manner and was dismissive of my initial concerns/questions and pain, was subsequently rough during my exam even after I told him I was already having pain, and didn't even stop what he was doing as I was crying on the table from it. He then called me back and told me I needed an invasive, painful procedure, which thank god another doctor stepped in and told me was completely unnecessary. After leaving my initial exam I felt so violated and just sat crying in my car. I've never had an experience like this with any obgyn, and I still have sexual dysfunction (psychologically) from it to this day. He is the reason I refuse to have a male gynecologist ever again. Reading these other older reviews, it seems like he used to be a good doctor but he has apparently become burnt out since then and has zero compassion and care for his patients.

I have been Dr. Cotter's patient for years, and followed him to NFRMC from AGH. His new office is beautiful and his staff is wonderful. I have watched Dr. Cotter's practice evolve over the years and it just keeps getting better and better. His sense of humor and caring about my concerns have always kept me there as his patient, but now the quality of his office and the great experience from walking in the door until my visit is over ensure I'll stick with this fantastic practice.
