Michael Scott Curtis

It pains me to give this man one star after what he put my 19 year old daughter through. Does he have a pleasant demeanor when you meet him, absolutely! But if you have complications after surgery, you find out real quick just how fake that pleasantry is. Two weeks after my daughter's surgery, she started complaining to him about a lump at the top of her right breast that just kept getting warmer and bigger (an infected hematoma). For two months she sat at home unable to go anywhere, with a maxipad under her breast to catch the blood that eventually found a weakspot in her incision and would drain out like a running faucet at times. If you have two months to sit at home and not work or go to school as my daughter had to, then you may not be as bothered by Dr. Curtis's lack of urgency. But after two months and one round of an antibiotic that did nothing, he finally agreed to take her back in and perform another surgery to remove the infection in her breast. I asked him to keep her… overnight after that surgery so she could get a full 24 hours of IV antibiotics, but he refused. A week or so after surgery #2, the infection was back and created a crater of puss and draining blood under her breast. His answer was not to see her, but to call in the same antibiotic he called in the first time that didn't work. At that point we went to a new doctor who tested the tissue to make sure he was treating with the right antibiotic, and of course this time it worked. We're a year out from her first surgery and her breast are almost as large as they were prior to surgery, the right one is deformed and her breast are saggier than mine are at almost twice her age. IF he even did a lift as most surgeons do for this surgery, it was very poorly done. We're now working with the surgeon that fixed Dr Curtis's mess the last year to get her in for a 3rd surgery to remove the rest of the dead tissue out of her right breast and make both breast look the way they should. Please, please, do your research and ignore Dr Curtis's charismatic demeanor. Since my daughter's surgery and the multiple trips we've had to make to the Breast Center, I have spoken to staff members who are either bold enough to tell us we're on a long list of his patients with this story or they simply make a face that tells us exactly what they're thinking without them saying a word. But nothing tells you more about a surgeon than the way they treat patients when procedures don't go as planned. Based our experience, it's my opinion that this man couldn't care less about the patient after he's collected his payment. I am eternally grateful for the doctor who has stepped up to help fix a problem he had nothing to do with causing, and proved they are not all like Dr. Michael Curtis.

Poor patient care..

Horrible. I ended up having to see a wound care specialist, an infectious disease doctor, a thoracic surgeon, and finally another plastic surgeon. All because Dr Curtis made my expanders too large after my double mastectomy. He stretched my skin so much that it ripped.

I would tell a friend he is a very good Doctor. very nice, and he takes the time to explain and make sure you understand everything about what is going to happen or what will happen. he makes sure your healing like you should be.
