Dr. Michael Rex Dayton, MD

Dr Dayton ignored my directives without my consent. He admitted he knew a week priori he was going to use an approach far more far more invasive and contrary to my consent. A few hours after surgery I was told to start walking I collapsed to the floor, and passed out. Instead of moving the muscle, tendons ligaments, and nerves to one side as agreed (anterior approach), he severed them (posterior approach). Dayton claims there is little difference between the two approaches! I ended up in hospital for 14 days instead of 1 night. Transferred tonAn intensive rehabilitation hospital as my leg was paralyzed. He call that well tolerated and unremarkable recovery. UCH completely backs his beech if ethics. Know this, Organ Donation, Resuscitation, or Medical POA are inconsequential at UCH. They will not honor patient directives. You are solely under the whim of the provider. Patient Directives for Medical Power of Attorney, Organ Donation or Resuscitation can be completely ignored. … My mobility ihas been further compromised because he made one leg longer than the other. I have less mobility, and more pain than I had pre Surgery. A return to my pre surgical condition would be a blessing. I'm 13 weeks out now with a deformity an orthortist has to manage. It could be permanent. Both Dayton, and UCH Patient Advocate are recorded stating the procedure was well tolerated, post surgery uneventful, nothing untoward has taken place. Insulting. I was going to leave this in house. UCH non interest forces me to take it outside, in the hope of saving anyone else through this ordeal.

The insurance company denied a claim for Monovisk injections. Dr. Dayton personally called them and was able to get them to approve it. Extremely knowledgeable physician.

if your looking for someone that follows through and cares about their patients after a surgery, this is not the place. They don't return calls. Don't address pain issues and pretty much leave you out to dry.

I would recommend Dr Dayton to every one he was the best . Had a knee replacement . an staff was great an friendly .

Dr. Dayton did wonders for my hip condition. He is a very skilled surgeon and very friendly! Highly recommended!

He seemed like he did not care to see me. I only saw him for 5 minutes. I say his resident and she talked to me. I feel like he didn't even look over my medical records. If he did he would understand I need him to look at me not his resident. I have a rare bone disease.

Don't go see this Dr if you would like to speak to someone or have them return your calls. Also if you want to have relief from pain and answers in the next year go elsewhere!

Dr. Dayton failed to read my x-rays properly and failed to read radiologists' reports of my x-rays that indicated problems with my Birmingham hip resurfacing. Based on his own assessment, he believed my x-rays looked fine, and I was merely suffering from tendonitis, when in fact, the resurfacing device was failing. His failure to diagnose the problem caused me nearly 2 years of suffering, and I eventually needed to have a total hip replacement.

Dr. Dayton replaced my hip--my recovery was great! He was thorough in his consultation with me, as I was inquiring about possible reconstruction vs. replacement. He gave an honest assessment, and I went with the replacement. His credentials and reputation are impeccable--check him out!
