Both myself and Michael VOLPE have been a patient of Dr. Micheal Degan and there are very few such caring and knowledgeable Doctors as well as taking time to make sure their patient has understood what their body tells them is wrong. He is a gift to his patience.

He did a great job on my surgery, gave me back my life and health. I feel great thanks to him.

I hesitated to write this review since it is very repetitive of other reviews regarding the extremely poor support in the office. You can easily spend close to an hour on hold, any day of the week trying to speak to someone. My insurance company cannot reach them by phone and gets no response to faxes. I called the hospital directly, they tried every contact number they had for the Urology practice and could not reach anyone. I asked the hospital if the were aware of the extremely negative reviews being posted on line, they said they were, they do read them, but apparently no action is taken to correct. The doctor is very good but the lack of support on phone calls and even wait times in the office seriously damage an otherwise good reputation and patient experience.

I had a consultation with Dr. Degen and a follow-up MRI at Hackensack. He could be a very fine doctor however before considering his services you need to consider the lack of staff support provided by this practice. It was nearly impossible to get an initial appointment because the phones are constantly on hold. I actually went to the office to make an initial appointment in person. My MRI results were posted on the patient portal and my attempts to get the doctor or anyone on the staff to discuss the findings failed - by both phone and email. Finally, I called my pcp and he said he would call the doctor and practice. No response. I gave up and went to another urological practice - mostly because I could image what post-operative aftercare would be with this group.

He's thorough, compassionate and gentle. He's truly one of the greats.r Trust me, what I had to have done, would've scared anyone out of their wits. but he was gentle and patient and I had no pain. Great follow-up.

Dr. Degen is a good doctor and explains everything clearly. The problem is his office staff are not helpful. They never return calls after repeated messages and it takes up to 45 - 50 minutes before some in the office picks up the call. You are on hold listening to the same repeated message over and over again. The staff in his office does not give you the confidence that they care about the patient.

He’s a good Doctor the issue is his staff . They never return calls nor answer the phone it’s ridiculous . I called Monday and it’s Friday and I have not heard back as of yet .

Anyone giving this young man less than 5 Stars, has never been to another doctor, for any specialty. He is a rare find. Intelligence, class and patience.
