Dr. Michael J Downing, MD

Don't do it. This Dr. has a terrible attitude. His bedside and phone manners are disgusting. His delivery is just awful and you are always a bother and dumb..don't ever ask a question twice unless you want to be disciplined. His staff is outstanding, it's a shame they work for him! He is the most non caring doctor I have encountered. Go elsewhere!

Dr. Downing has been my internist for 23 years. He listens carefully to all my questions and provides answers to ensure my health is at its best. He responds quickly to me if problems arise outside my normal appointments, whether it's an office visit or via phone. The annual exams are extremely thorough through his association with MDVIP. He encourages me toward a healthy lifestyle.

He is always willing to listen. Never rushed and has helped in many ways.

He is responsive and always ready to help you with anythings. More then just a person you can always depend on!

Dr Downing has something that I believe is missing in a lot of doctors today and that is COMMON SENSE. He doesn't go by some generic charts that prescribes as if we are all the same. I have been with him since he took over for Dr Montoya and I plan on staying with him.

I love that Dr. Downing is very prompt. He has a lovely waiting room, but you rarely get to enjoy it because you are taken back for your appointment almost immediately. You can make an appointment during your lunch hour from work and expect to make it back to work within a reasonable amount of time. Also, you actually have time to ask questions, and he takes the time to discuss things with you. Other doctors I've gone to make me feel like they're rushing me out the door as soon as I walk in. He seems to really know his stuff. When I leave there, I feel confident that we explored every avenue when I'm having a health issue. He even does walks with his patients at the park! I was extremely impressed by this, as I am trying to watch my weight and attempting to be healthier. All in all, I really like Dr. Downing. He is my favorite doctor.

I was a patient if doctor downing for a decade before he switched to a concierge model. I though Dr. downing was the doctor I'd stick with until he retired or I moved, and. was considering switching to the concierge model, as the financial commitment was not prohibitive. I was glad I got a copy of my medical records (for a legal case unrelated to Dr. Downing) and was able to see on paper how he was not the doctor I thought he was. I was appalled by someone's the comments on the record. I was taken aback by some of his diagnoses that my current primary solved with little effort. I accidentally called Dr. Downing office for a refill of a Asacol that I had gotten from my GI specialist, and when I was upset by how rudely I had been treated by the front desk staff and belittled over my mistake, I was labelled as "drug seeking" for an anti -diarrheal - a statement that remains on my record and I am contesting. The inter-office notes presented as part of my medical records to my… attorney were so nasty, the negated every positive feeling generated by the thin facade he puts on in person. I always sensed he was "easily irritated" and was careful not to ask too many questions, or to hide if I didn't understand a treatment programme, etc. but, I didn't realize how much disdain he actually had for me (and, I can only think" for other patients, as my records were gained randomly). I won't even get into the shady way he attempted to get patients to sign up for the concierge service with promises like 'I don't know if you'll get anther doctor to refill your current medications like I do - etc,". had no issue and was recommended to a primary care physician who has been a huge night and day positive godsend for me. My health has improved, I don't have to watch what I say in an appointment (because I may ask the same thing twice and annoy Dr. Downing) and I am healthier and love my current provider, Point here: what you see as "mr nice guy, friend, advocate on the surface isn't what's happening behind the scenes." (And, normally, I wouldn't care so long so I got good care, b to read what I did in my records was just... wow,)

Dr. Downing is the only doctor I have ever had that did not touch you when giving you a physical. He simply asks questions then writes a prescription for blood work. He does not check your reflexes, eyes, nose, throat, glads, or prostate.
