Dr. Michael Joseph Fermo, MD

This psychiatrist specifically has a great track record only in certain cases. He is not experienced Enough To tell the difference between psychiatric issues and presentation with autoimmune disease. Including lyme or Neuro endocrine disorders. Years ago I saw him. When nobody could figure out what was going on with me. I couldn't sleep My body was not producing hormones as it should. and I have a medical background myself. He tried to twist and Tell me crazy things that were Insane to test my competency As I was literally in crisis. Like my Insurance Company saying I'm a drug addict... I've never done drugs in my life, And you're testing confirmed. I was terrified because I could Not control what was happening to me. All I could do is try my best to explain What I was experiencing As my brain was on fire.. I only agreed to go to this facility to try and get back on a medication I needed. All this happened when I stopped taking it. I didn't have an endocrinologist At that time. Had… I, none of this would have happened. And they should have seen the medical signs that didn't align with his assumptions or diagnosis since I wasn't responding to psyc meds. I didn't need those... I was in a full blown autoimmune flare for the first time. My organs and my brain and nerves were being attacked. The hospitals wouldn't keep me because I didn't meet criteria for admittance Thanks to my knowledge and efforts to Stabilize myself. They don't test for endocrine disorders or autoimmunity in emergency rooms. I was finally diagnosed with full blown hashimoto's secondary adrenal Insufficiency that could have kil1ed me. And lyme disease Flaring all at the same time. And yes that would present with Some psychiatric symptoms. But nothing else matched And I should have been sent to the hospital With a referral for further more in depth testing. I saw an endocrinologist Was immediately diagnosed and put on Steroids And a whole protocol, plus back on the medication I needed. It took me years to recover. The bottom line is. You should have enough experience With 30 years to Tell the difference And Transfer someone to actually receive Correct treatment. Instead of being Just annoyed by them.

Dr. Fermo is a gift. He has been treating my husband for more than two years. He's an advocate for my husband and works tirelessly to unravel the twists and turns of mental health. He is direct, knowledgeable and expects as much from his patients as they expect from him. Dr. Fermo does not give up, he is always seeking the solution. He'll give you what you give him - respect, compassion, empathy and teamwork. I couldn't be more grateful that he is helping my husband navigate his path to wellness.

Empathetic yet very down to business. I see him for medication management. I had a difficult time adjusting my meds and felt his response was a bit slow.

I WAS HAVING TERRIBLE SIDE EFFECTS FROM A MEDICATION; GEODONE… AGITATION, HOSTILITY AND CONFUSION… HE INSISTED I STAY ON THE MEDICATION AND WOULD NOT PRESCRIBE AN ALTERNATE. HE IS VERY ARROGANT AND INSISTED I CONTINUED WITH MEDICATION AND REFUSED TO TREAT ME IN THE FUTURE. I HAD JUST WAS RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL AND NORMALLY WITH NEW MEDS APPOINTMENTS ARE WITHIN 1 MONTH. HE SIDE HE NO LONGER WANTED TO TREAT ME BECAUSE I ASKED FOR AN ALTERNATION MEDICATION.

Here's another Doctor Who doesn't care about their patients or take the time to actually do his job. He just like sitting back and collecting a check

I have been seeing Dr Fermo for more than 10 years. My insurance changed and my new insurance was not contracted with him. I was devastated. For 2 years I struggled and went through a minimum of 6 other providers. None of which I felt comfortable talking to. My insurance changed again and I learned that he accepted my new insurance. I don't ever want to see another psychiatrist. He is absolutely the best. I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr Fermo is very courteous and knowledgeable.

I read other people's things, and I'm sure everyone has their own experience, but I didn't experience the moving around and I found Dr. Fermo nice, concerned and warm enough. He didn't smile a lot, but I don't know if I want someone smiling and laughing about my condition. He just seemed serious.

Dr Fermo moves offices a lot. Once you get settled in, he will move and you may have a hard time finding him. Good doctor for me, but difficult to maintain constant care.

I know that Dr's see many patients on a daily basis and don't personally care about everyone but at least try to fake it and act like you do care about a patient's well being.
