Dr. Michael A Finn, MD

My problem is unique and complex and I have seen many medical specialists, including time spent at the Mayo Clinic for my constant pain. A chiropractor found significant damage in my cervical spine on an X-Ray and recommended that I see an orthopedic surgeon or a neurosurgeon to get MRIs done and have surgery to remedy significant nerve impingement. I researched well-rated surgeons and made an appointment with Dr. Finn. I went to the appointment with images on a thumb drive. They said they couldn't use a thumb drive and I had to mail in a CD. The nurse went down the hall and talked to Dr Finn. He said he wouldn't even meet with me until I sent an MRI CD in and he had looked at it and was able to call me back to say if he would do surgery or not! So I never even got to meet him or see him! At checkout, the receptionist wanted to schedule me with physical therapy doctors first. I told her I've already gone down that road. She said usually insurance wants to make sure you've tried… physical therapy and injections before surgery. I told her I've tried PT, injections, acupuncture, a neurostimulator implant and subsequent removal and would definitely need spinal surgery. I got a preaddressed cushioned envelope from the staff and was told to mail the MRI CD to them and I did so. I never heard back. Overall, I'm not impressed with Dr Finn. I know he doesn't want to waste his time but my situation is very rare. His staff has been nice. The hospital is a pain, though. It's hard to find parking. It's a long walk from the parking lot. It wasn't worth pursuing. I decided to find another surgeon - I found a great orthopedic surgeon, I had surgery with the new doctor and that surgery was successful.

Dr Finn and his PA Som are a great duo. Like Lebron James and Kyrie Irving ... so happy I found them. I’ve had great results from my surgery thus far ..

Exceptional surgeon. I got several other opinions with medical professionals that didn’t have the confidence to perform the surgery I needed. He was confident from the first appointment I had, he listened and validated the significance of the pain I was in and how it affected my quality of life as an active 30 yr old. No one but Dr. Finn would operate on me and I can’t recommend him enough. He gave me my life back! Can’t thank this man enough. His PA Som and the rest of staff were awesome!

Dr. Finn is an excellent surgeon. He is incredibly smart and talented. He is an expert in his field. If you need surgery and have run out of other options, he is the guy for you!

Dr. Finn is hands down the best physician I’ve ever seen. His skill and knowledge are both extraordinary, but even beyond that, he has a genuine care for and commitment to his patients that are unparalleled. If any issue or question arises, he is available and actually happy to talk and help. He cares so deeply that he’ll only consider operating if it’s clear more conservative (non-surgical) treatments have failed or just aren’t options. He cares about the whole person/outcome deeply. Absolutely amazing bedside manner—kind, listens attentively, understanding, empathetic. Could not recommend him more highly (and absolutely disagree with comments suggesting he doesn’t care or only wants to operate).

Kept wanting me to decide to have a operation. Said there was no risk. I talked to the physiotherapist and she was goood and told me some things to do that would help the pain and no operation. This docotr just wants to operate .

Dr. Finn listened to us, explained the diagnosis, and options for treatment, and encouraged us to get a second opinion. He even called us at home to update the test results. As a conscientious and caring physician, when we emailed him the questions, he replied promptly even though he was attending a meeting. We wholeheartedly recommend him as a physician. He is a scholar and gentleman.
