Michael Fortson, MD, is board certified in family medicine. Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Fortson has been in private practice in the metro Atlanta area for over 20 years. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Fortson takes a special interest in preventative medicine and the management of chronic diseases, including the treatment of hypertension, diabetes, and high blood cholesterol. In his spare time, Dr. Fortson enjoys spending time with friends and family. As a Georgia native, he enjoys learning about local history, hiking, kayaking, and exploring the beautiful North Georgia mountains. Dr. Fortson welcomes new patients and accepts most major insurance plans.

The nicest thing about having Dr. Fortson as your doctor is that when you get sick and need to see him you get to be in the presence of a super-well informed physician who is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

My family physician had retired and I was concerned about replacing her. I luckily got an appointment with Dr. Fortson and he is wonderful. He truly listened to my health concerns and shared his expertise and ideas in such a kind manner. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Fortson is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and responsive in his approach to patient treatment. He listens carefully, triages quickly, and accurately diagnoses problems, while providing maximum reassurance to the patient. His instructions are very clear (with written backups in plain language) and he is very effective in providing maximum information to allay the patient's fears over new or serious conditions. "Caring" is the one word that would describe Dr. Fortson perfectly. I would not hesitate to recommend him to everyone in need of a strong family practicioner.

Dr. Fortson was very nice and seemed to care about me and my condition. He listens very well and spent alot of time discussing my medical condition and reviewing my medications. The office staff was also very nice and friendly...
