I have the distinction of being Dr. Gabel's patient longer than anyone else. My children are no 48 and 51 and they were school children when he first became our doctor. The daughter has moved away, but my son is still his patient. We can all see too! You may have to wait since he doesn't rush anyone. And he loves dogs; we have that in common.

I have had surgery twice by him and it was very good and so is follow up. So are office visits.

I used to be a patient with Dr. Purcell when Dr. Gabel joined him, I became his patient 30 some years ago. This practice treated my mom, my son, and my daughter. Any patient is in good hands with him.

I've been a patient of Dr. Gabel's for 20 plus years and he's performed cataract surgery on my father. Dr. Gabel explains to you what is going on, will answer your questions and you never feel rushed. If my wait is a few moments longer than other doctor's, I'm ok with this because he takes his time with me as his patient..... and answers your concerns and questions. Great doctor--so great that it may be difficult to get an immediate routine appointment. He may also run a bit late getting patients in on time because he won't rush you if you have questions or concerns. I was told by a local retinal specialist that Dr. Gabel is the one that local doctors send their moms to for cataract surgery. O.R. nurses love working with him and respect his expertise.

I have been Dr. Gabel's patient 6 years. His office is straight out of the 1950s - sliding glass window separating staff and patients, poor lighting, long waits (overbooking), bad magazines and uneven staff skills. He did NOT dilate my eyes for 3 years. I am a glaucoma patient and he cared for that adequately. Five days after seeing him this April, I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the eye. The ocular oncologist said the tumor had been growing for a year. While it is in a difficult place to note, I am at higher risk for this rare form of cancer. Without dilation it would be impossible to see the tumor. Again, my eyes had not been dilated for 3 years. I was seen by Dr. Gabel twice in the past year. He has not called me since I reported to him my situation.
