Dr. Michael Walsh Gavin, MD

Dr Gavin involved me in the decisions about my care, gave me copies of recent research on my disease from the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, is honest about my diagnosis, is careful to communicate which drugs I need to stop and/or begin to make my quality of life more comfortable. He spends time after every procedure to explain this, answer questions and is willing to talk with my family members as needed. I feel complete confidence in his care!!

His staff will not let you speak to him or the attending associate after the apt if problems arise. Prescriptions are not submitted in a timely manner. Here it is 2 days after my appointment, I'm still waiting for antibiotics & some relief from a level 10 pain with muscle relaxers. Dr. Gavin wanted me to get lab work done with stool sample and blood work. Discussed this with the nurse, told her I would stop by the lab the next day, the lab had not received any request the next day. Took 2 days for the request to appear online at the lab, and then the blood work was not included. Every time I call his office the staff is unprofessional. I have been told by the nurse (who told me to call her if problems or questions came up) that she was too busy to check on why the pharmacy had not received the pain prescription. Today she informed me that after 2 days she is just now checking on the antibiotics prescription and that takes 3 days for prior approval. I have taken 10,000.00 worth of… vancomycin and never had it take 3 days for prior approval, not even from Dr. Gavin who has prescribed this for me in the past. One excuse after another from his staff. Doctor Gavin & his associate doctors are great , but some of his staff should be working at a fast food restaurant instead of being in charge of the well being of patients. I'm sure not all of his staff is rude & unprofessional, I just keep getting the bad apples in his office. I really want to be treated by the best Doctor, but that is useless unless the Doctor has a qualified staff to follow up.
