Dr. Michael T Georgis, MD

In 1984, Dr. Georgis performed a myomectomy on me at a Brooklyn, NY hospital where he had privileges, the name of which hospital I don't remember. He was thorough and really knew his stuff! I was 26 a the time, childless and unmarried, and he considered that I might still want to have children, which I never did, and I am now menopausal, thank goodness (!), so did not want to give me a hysterectomy, which was his common policy. After my operation, he told me that I had lost a lot of blood but that he did not want to give me a blood transfusion because I was young and could take iron to rebuild my blood and that he wasn't very confident in the safety of the blood supply of that time. This may have prevented me from, among other things, contracting Hepatitis C, which I just got tested for today at my primary care physician's office, which I understand can be deadly and without symptoms until it is too late! I have been mostly fortunate with the doctors I have had over my entire… life. I feel that way about my present doctor as well, although we do have power struggles over final decisions about my health care, which I insist must be mine! Thank you for your caring and knowledgeable treatment of my condition, Dr. Georgis! I trusted you implicitly and you did not let me down!
