Dr. Michael Jeffrey Gillman

Broke my foot in two places. A doctor braced it but even after 6 months couldnt walk more than a few steps without pain. A friend recommended Dr. Gilman. He retreated my foot and one year later, no pain. Im 65 years old and in good physical condition, but old bones mend slow. Or never do.

Dr. Gillman is AMAZINGLY SMART and is YOUR BEST ALLY. He correctly diagnosed both of my problems in one visit each. ONE. He gave me treatment options. I was in so much pain and had seen 4 separate doctors and had 11 different medical procedures only to have them report the 'good news that nothing was wrong'. Some suggested it was in my head. Some were helpful but scratched their heads. None had been able to help. He helped immediately. He is quick, brilliant, and actually fixes you. Added bonus? He is very punctual and never makes you wait. I am forever grateful and will put his opinion above any other doctor in his field hands down.

If you want to get in an out of a visit this is the doctor for you. I was sent here for a consultation after already undergoing surgery with a previous doctor. Dr. Gillman did not bother to look at the prior reports and had no idea I had surgery until I told him while standing at the front desk waiting to check out. He was in and out and never checked full range of motion or asked what I was having issues with. Consultation took a whole two minutes for him to complete. Rushes through everything, and does not answer questions. You will not wait to see him though, i have been out of the office before my actual appointment time. Might be a good surgeon, but does not inspire much confidence.

Dr. Gillman is the best Orthopedic Surgeons in Orange County. He is extremely knowledgeable and offers cutting edge treatments to bring the best results to the patient. He patiently listens to all of my concerns and recommends the best course of treatment for me. He walks into the exam room knowing everything about my ongoing treatment and what our goals are. He is very friendly and personable and puts me at ease each time I see him. Dr. Gillman has performed surgery on me and I received excellent results. He explained everything that was going to happen before the surgery and was very honest about the reasonable outcome. Dr. Gillman is very skilled at diagnosing the problem and always prescribes the correct treatment. I would not trust my care to any other Orthopedic Surgeon. Thank you, Dr. Gillman!

i felt humiliated !

Unfortunately, this doctor did not listen to even 5% of the words he even allowed me to say. He constantly interrupted me, not allowing me to even explain my injury or history of injury to get a proper prognosis and professional opinion. In fact, he tried telling me that I can cycle or swim while I wait for my knee to heal. So kind of him to suggest I cycle, when I can't even walk more than 500 feet without crutches or bear weight on the right leg while bending my knee. This almost 6 weeks post injury, so obviously it is not healing very well in comparison to previous injuries, as I TRIED to explain. He was rushing off to surgery and did not answer hardly any of my questions. I was balling at this point because it did not seem like he wanted to help or cared even at all, of which I have never done before. Then he proceeds to tell me that he does not do the surgery I would need done, but I can Google it to learn more. I am not sure about you, but I paid a significant amount of money to… get told that I just need to Google the surgery I already knew about. Hence, I came to the doctor to get his opinion about. As a fellow health care professional myself, I would never treat my patients in such a way and I am incredibly disappointed. I hate to be that person, and have never wrote a bad review before in my life, but I hope that no one else will have any sort of experience like this.

Dr. Gillman diagnosed my knee problems in no time at all, I've had treatment, and am doing SO much better. Dr. Gillman has a great bedside manner, answers all my questions and concerns. The office staff is professional and helpful.

If your reading reviews, you are trying to find an orthopedist. Dr. Gillman is marginal at best. I have seen better Doctors practicing as family doctors at small immediate care centers. If you have a small routine problem, then a marginal orthopedist would be ok I guess. If your problem is anything beyond marginal(ie. stubbed toe etc.), look elsewhere. He is a small pawn in a bigger operation. He will listen for 5 to ten seconds then you can't get a word in. Have you not ever wondered why it's so easy to get in to see some doctors? My advise is to keep looking and pass over this one. Your body is yours. Do not settle for mediocrity. Opinions expressed in this review I believe to be accurate and honest, and they are of my own experience.

My Primary care physician recommended another surgeon. for my hip pain. I saw him and did not have a real warm feeling about him. I looked on-line for a surgeon with good reviews; Dr. Gilman stood-out so I went to him primarily for a second opinion. I liked the way he understood that I was nervous about the surgery and he was very good at going through everything and explaining it in detail. I chose to have a total hip replacement from him and am very glad I did. The things that made Dr. Gilman rise above the others is the extra care he provides; especially to reduce post-surgery pain and discomfort. He implants a pain pump that pretty much eliminated the post surgery painâ?¦ I did not even need take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain. He took the time to put sewed-in stitches instead of the staples that others use. My engineering background tells me that the thread stitches are more similar to your skin and therefore flex and react more naturally. The metal staples are… quicker for the surgeon, but because they donâ??t flex like your skin they can cause more discomfort. It is like a cut on your lip; if you donâ??t move your mouth much it does not hurt, but if you open your mouth and stretch the skin even slightlyâ?¦ it will hurt again and the staples do not flex with movements in your skin. After the surgery he had me placed into a private room with two ocean-view windows a private room is a good way to mitigate the infection risk. Dr. Gilman himself called me at home a few days after the surgery to make sure everything was going well and to coach me to remove the pain pump. I really appreciated this call and the post surgery care was superâ?¦ he even worked me in on New Years Eve for a post-surgery check-up. Dr. Gilman seems to be very particular and a perfectionist he wanted to take the stitches-out himself to verify the incision was healing properly; talking to other hip replacement patients many never see the Dr. after leaving the hospital; after surgery care is left to PA.s Ultimately, I was very please with my choice of Dr. Gilman; I even insisted my mother got to him for her hip replacement revision.

I ruptured my achilles tendon in the summer of 2013. I decided to go to Dr Gillman based on reviews I read on other sites. My experience with Dr Gillman was the best I've ever had with a doctor. He is courteous, has a great bedside manner, and is the most efficient doctor I have ever been to; I had a 9:15 appointment to get a cast changed, I showed up at 9:01a and was finished at 9:14a!! I was out of there before my scheduled appointment time! I was able to get an appointment with Dr Gillman within 48 hours of contacting his office. His initial diagnosis was a torn achilles, he was able to get me an MRI appointment for the same afternoon (which confirmed his diagnosis) and performed surgery to repair a 90% tear in my achilles tendon 2 days later. I was diagnosed on a Tuesday and had surgery on a Thursday. 5 months later and I am walking around and able to be active and pain free. I would highly recommend Dr Gillman.
