Dr. Michael Jay Haiken, MD

I went to the Haiken Dermatology on Summerlin Rd. After my appointment there I realized that I had not had a doctor examine me at all. The only person to examine me was a nurse who presented herself as a doctor. I was puzzled about the appointment and went on-line and found she is a C-ARNP (nurse), not a doctor. (Although she does try to pass herself off as a doctor on webmd.com as well ) After posting my disgust in a review I received a phone call from Dr Haiken. He agreed to examine me and I agreed to remove the review. I felt his examination was not at all thorough and my suspicions were confirmed as Dr Haiken had missed a crucial thing, an infestation of scabies. After the appointment the itching worsened and a couple of weeks later I figured out what the problem was. Luckily I had some scabies cream as it is available over the counter in many other countries. I treated myself and everything began to heal. I wanted to talk to Dr Haiken about his oversight and left a message for him… on his phone early Thursday morning last week. That is the day the Summerlin practice is open. I said I did not want to right a negative review but if he would not discuss this with me that I would be forced to write a review. Crusted Scabies is common in elderly people and extremely contagious. I knew about scabies but not about Crusted Scabies. The only person I have had contact with for months is an elderly gentleman that I run errands for. I couldn't figure out how I could have possibly gotten it and even suspected having gotten it at the dermatologists office somehow. As a dermatologist Dr Haiken should know the signs of scabies. Particularly because he practices is an area with an older population that is more likely to have individuals who present with Crusted Scabies and, therefore, more likely to have other individuals who present with scabies who have contacted it from the former. Needless to say 3 days later I have still not had a phone call from Dr Haiken despite leaving a few messages.

While I got a thorough checkover by the PA I was asked if I would like the wart on my hand removed. I replied "sure". She froze the wart which took literally less than 2 seconds. They charged $250! I am outraged!!!

They are curitious, will take there time with you and answer all your questions. I'm a big chicken when it comes to needles, they are wonderful. Have been seeing Dr. Haiken for years now. Highly recommend them to anyone who needs this kind of doctor.
