Dr. Michael Alan Halsted, MD

Dr. Halsted is a specialist in corneal transplantation, cataract surgery and diseases of the cornea and anterior segment. Born in Lansing, Michigan, Dr. Halsted was raised in Omaha and received a bachelor of arts degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. Dr. Halsted completed an internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Additional training has included a fellowship in cornea and external diseases at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Halsted joined Midwest Eye Care in 1989.Dr. Halsted is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a clinical instructor at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and also serves as a instructor for the Clarkson Family Practice residency program. He currently serves as the managing shareholder for Midwest Eye Care and as the Medical Director …for the Lions Eye Bank of Nebraska. Dr. Halsted volunteers his services for the Hope Medical Outreach Coalition, Mission Cataract and the National Eye Care Project. Dr. Halsted was elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America® from 1996 to 2000 and 2007 to 2010.
